Now, is this a primarily democrat thing, or is this just something that has been set up in policy from multiple sources? Because I think you’re just accusing democrats, but it’s really both parties. This type of thing has been happening since the beginning of the civil rights movement…

I don’t think this is true. What needs to stop happening is republicans and democrats need to cut the crap and stop fighting. They’re too busy trying to compete for the american public that they’re not taking care of the issues that matter. It’s not just the liberals who are messing up. It’s everybody. Everybody’s getting caught up in this silly game of blame and political grab ass that productivity is in the toilet. The productivity level of congress has gone down throughout the past couple decades, going through both Republican and Democrat hands. What I’ve noticed on this website is that everybody is so quick to blame the liberals, and on other websites, liberals are also so quick to blame the republicans. Everybody’s wasting their ******* breath on who’s blaming who that we have no more energy left to compromise in solving this absolutely massive economic crisis. Stop being children, people, grow up and learn to work together instead of constantly playing the blame game. We as an american public are getting NOWHERE by diverting our energy to fighting each other. This has to end. Beck’s instigation of such issues as well, blaming such and such and highlighting where everybody did everything wrong is NOT helpful, it’s just directing hate. We need to stop this before our nation becomes subpar from tearing itself apart from the inside.

Survivorseed brings up a good point.

Wditt– “Muslims make americans hate muslims?” What the hell is wrong with you? Have you been prescribing to this BS so long that you have no tolerance for anything not christian white? Being a Muslim is NOT the same thing as being a terrorist or whatever the hell you’re thinking of. I have muslim friends who are the nicest people in the world. Bigot americans like you make the wold hate americans. You’re playing right into the right wing stereotype. You can burn in hell, hate mongerers like you and beck should not exist.

Tell me, wordweaver, did you also boycott cigarette companies? Because I can think of a lot more useful things to boycott other than teen clothing companies. Teen clothing will always try to push the edges of the boundaries because it’s a progressing market. If it’s boring, it’s out.

@Therightofbilly: “Every problem in America can be traced back to the liberals.” Although I understand this is a predominantly conservative site, you don’t think GW Bush messed up in office? He did HORRIBLY. In addition, the economic crisis (the biggest problem we have currently) is not a result of the liberal agenda you like to detest so much. It is because of the big banks and the housing industry. The liberals are not the only ones to blame. It is EVERYBODY in washington. Everybody is messing up and the policies in place are sloppy, instated by Republicans and Democrats alike. Don’t push the blame on the opposing party, take responsibility for it together. The constant finger pointing is getting us as Americans nowhere. Both parties need to take responsibility to tackle these problems together.

I know both sides of the argument. I studied the bible and creation extensively in high school, went to a prestigious university and did just the same amount of studying about evolution.

Guess what? Evolution is way more believable because of all the reasoning and logic behind it. But it seems like you didn’t really feel like actually researching something you wish to denounce. It seems like you’re regurgitating whatever you learned on Sunday. So please, before you ask the wrong questions about evolution, do a bit of research and don’t just be a religious sheep parrot.

  • April 10, 2012 at 6:01am

This is not a debate about whether evolution is correct or not. It seems like you just want to use this space to vent to your peers about how wrong evolution is.

    1) Just because somebody’s an atheist doesn’t make them anti-god. Do you see atheists everywhere running around, telling christians their beliefs are wrong? Usually, that only happens after the christian tries to convince the atheist that jesus is the way or whatever
    2) Your reasoning with the apes shows you don’t actually know how evolution works
    3) You don’t think god could have created evolution? I mean, it would be a pretty dick move of god to put fossil evidence just to trick us.
    4) Nobody cares about the chicken & the egg. Us knowing that doesn’t solve anything.
    5) Evolution is not the same thing as atheism. It is a scientific theory (one getting more and more backing and evidence everyday), while atheism is a set of beliefs. You can be an atheist and not believe in evolution, just like you can be a christian that does believe in evolution. Just because you are spoon fed information from your church doesn’t make it applicable OR correct. Literally, people have PhD’s in biology about this topic. There is no PhD in “creation,” although there is one in theology. Not the same thing. I think you are trivializing the work of thousands of scientists and researchers just because your pastor or whoever told you it was wrong. How about you find out what evolution really is, THEN start asking these irrelev

Am I allowed to rape women? It’s not in the 10 commandments.

  • April 10, 2012 at 5:45am

Maybe you need to stop comparing the presidency to Tiger Woods and Demi Moore. I would rather have a smart atheist in office than a dumb christian. I would also rather have a smart christian in office than a dumb atheist. I’m sorry, but you sound very presumptuous in this post. You need to stop judging people so superficially, especially movie stars because their demeanor is going to be very different from the average person’s.

I think this is the best religious response I’ve heard. Reasonable, not offensive, and considerate of both sides. I like you.

  • April 10, 2012 at 3:46am

SILLYXTIAN YOU…. NEED TO BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Nah, what I came here to say is… nice. Good lookin out.

  • April 10, 2012 at 3:30am

I am an atheist. Therefore, I have no soul, I do not feel pain when insulted or injured, I do not feel happy when good things happen to me. I do not cry when my loved ones die, I do not feel heartbreak at the sight of a leaving lover. I only think thoughts of murder, pillage, and rape. Clearly, I am not fit to rule a nation.

I always thought a soul is something that you always have and have had. So if I suddenly become a christian, I can have a soul? If I deconvert, does the soul leave my body, as in death? Where does it go? What if I’m not sure about god? Does this give me half a soul?

    This is insulting to atheists.

  • April 10, 2012 at 3:27am

What about a belief in any type of god? Or does it have to be the christian god? Because this is a very narrow and myopic point of view.

  • April 10, 2012 at 2:53am

Sounds like you’re afraid. So you just want a website with all 1 opinion? Afraid to be wrong? If you present a good argument, I can admit I’m wrong, and I’m always open to a good debate. Apparently, you like living in a cave where everyone circlejerks and agrees with each other, rather than seeing opposing sides. Good for you, you’re so enlightened.

  • April 10, 2012 at 2:43am

Brianl….. you appear…. troubled. I have read your bible, “the bible,” and you either read it and decided that you are reading a long confusing and ideologically contradicting book, or you are a sheep (which is way worse).

So, how does it feel to be judged on your religious basis? People could say the same for you, but they have the common decency not to. Unfortunately, I have no common decency.

Doesn’t this argument inherently make the behavior of atheists morally better than that of christians?

    Here’s why:
If a man is accountable to god, he will act morally in fear of the repercussions of his actions by divine intervention of god. If a man is accountable only to himself, he will act morally because he is a good person.

Now, let’s take a comparison between our actual indicator of demographic morality… prison.
From the 1997 Federal Bureau of Prisons, the statistics show that inmates are:
39% catholic 35% protestant, 7.2% muslim… the list goes on to the 19th position for atheist, at 0.209%.

Turns out we really are better at taking accountability for ourselves, at least in america. The numbers don’t lie. Please don‘t judge us thinking that we have no morals because we’re atheist. In fact, the opposite is true.

Black blart, sorry to do this again, but your words are not making sense.

” As soon as we stop being beholden to a central idea, all progress stops and we revert to savagery”

Actually, as soon as we stop being beholden to a central idea, progress SURGES forward.
    Examples:
    The copernican revolution
    Immigration to America
    Theories of evolution
    Democritus’ Original atomic theory
The advent of Quantum theory in the early 1900′s (they had to fight Einstein for this)
    The abolishing of AMERICAN SLAVERY

Scientific papers every day are written because they stopped adhering to one strict idea. So come off your unfounded basis and stop contradicting yourself.

  • April 10, 2012 at 1:58am

OH Nice, blart. I didn’t even realize you called ralphie on his inability to read either. omg you must feel so smart with all dem books you read. You really have to stop using that “Read a book” type of response. It’s getting old, and you need to stop acting like you’re better than everyone else because you’ve read all two texts by mao and trotsky. OMGZZ I CAN NAME DROP

    Pedantic.

  • April 10, 2012 at 1:53am

Black Blart: Stop talking about communism & mao so much. Is this the only text you’ve read? EVERY article you mention about atheism has communism. This isn’t the era of McCarthy. We don’t have a red scare goin on. You really need to stop railing the one point and find other intellectual endeavors to engage your philosophy in in addition to communism.
