  AK variants:
  AK47=select fire=machinegun=assault rifle
  AKS=semi-auto=not a machinegun=not assault rifle

  M16 variants:
  M16=select fire=machinegun=assault rifle
  AR15=semi-auto=not a machinegun=not assault rifle

  Civilian machinegun ownership: almost 0%
  Civilian non-machinegun ownership: much higher

  Our nation’s founders would be upset to know that our government wants to block civilian ownership of the same guns that soldiers carry. They even planned for the future. To paraphrase from a debate: “the people should not be allowed to own weapons such as cannons…but muskets are fine…we know that things will change in the future…but the people must be allowed to carry the same hand-held weapon as the soldier”.

  FYI: Almost no firearms expert would ever user a 100 round mag in any rifle.
  Some years ago, a South American country experimented with them in M16s. There were too many problems.
