  • First off, I feel the need to set the record straight. Anonymous is not a “hacker” group. I am what many would consider a hacker. I do not however, go around engaging in illegal acts. A hacker is someone who likes to explore and learn all they can about computer systems. In my line of work, I use the knowledge that I’ve gained to help companies avoid embarrassing security failures. A “*******” is someone who maliciously breaks into systems with the intent of causing damage and/or making an illegal profit. To further complicate the matter, there is a class of wannabee “crackers” who are not really skilled in what they are doing, but simply rely on the work of others who have created various scripts and tools to allow them to break in to systems. These are called “script-kiddies”.

Unfortunately the media is too lazy to do any research and therefore consistently mis-label anyone who breaks into computer systems as a hacker. I break into systems myself, but only with the permission of the owner of those systems and only for the purpose of helping them find any security holes so that they can repair them. To the poster who said that hackers don’t respect private property – please don’t believe everything you read, hear, or watch in the media. Journalists in general are lazy, stupid, and irresponsible. Most hackers do respect private property. That’s why we make a distinction between hackers and crackers.

As far as anonymous is concerned, most of what I’ve seen from them have been the “script-kiddies” who think it’s cool to launch DoS (Denial of Service) attacks against the companies they have a beef with. And yes, most of them probably have a socialist philosophy.

That being said, I find it hard to point out any good guys in this whole sad, sorry mess. The US soldier who leaked the information was a homosexual man angry at DADT. I wish the media would report this fact, but that would interfere with their socialist agenda. Julian Assange has a history of targeting the US and other free or somewhat free societies with the information he releases. Socialist countries get a pass from him. The government has proven itself to be untrustworthy (as if anyone doubted that at this point). Companies prove themselves to be spineless and give in to pressure from the feds. The group Anonymous shows itself to have socialist leanings and on top of that, the ones that have been caught indicate that most of the group are nothing more then inept script-kiddies.

Our country, and indeed, the whole world is in great need of a spiritual revival on the scale of the “Great Awakenings” 200 years ago. If we don‘t return to God and to godly principles then we are going to see devastation and chaos on a level that most people can’t comprehend it. Until that point, I say as our founders use to “Put your trust in God and keep your powder dry.”
