Update: ESPN Yanks ‘Monday Night Football’ Open Over Hank Jr‘s ’Hitler’ Comment
October 4, 2011 at 10:42pm
It‘s censorship when the government tells you what you can or can’t say. It isn’t censorship for a private company to make decisions made on their bottom line or any other reason.
Speaking of reason, there’s a theory about how many posts are on a blog before Hitler turns up. It’s good in a way that Hitler is recognized as evil.
I think he picked an extreme example but the tendency of this president to operate in contempt of congress is more similar to fascism than Bush, who was compared to Hitler daily and even by members of the media without much more than a shrug. But Bush worked well with Congress, going along to get along. But I’d have said Il Duce.

I wouldn’t worry about these poor deluded pimple-faces. When they say they are 99% of the people, we know they are deluded. They have their president and senate, they lost their house of reps and all of the media will not sing their tune on cue…. cue tears… what babies. It’s 1968 and the loud majority is about to be trounced by the silent majority. Please, let’s not pick a Nixon this time!
Obama’s Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett: The Point of Government Is to Give People a Livelihood so They Can Provide for Their Families
September 29, 2011 at 2:17pm
That’s a good point but it rings a bit hollow when heard through the headphones of that moral vision she talks about. That sets up a dichotomy that doesn’t exist. No one wants people to be unemployed.
Obama’s Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett: The Point of Government Is to Give People a Livelihood so They Can Provide for Their Families

I think it‘s a highly moral vision so long as it’s not someone else’s money.
Corporations that are the most profitable are the most profitable because they produce goods and services that people need. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t make a dime.
This is amateur hour. Government is about governing, or limiting your freedom to hit my nose with your fist. Government then must itself be limited. That was the crystal clear agreement by the founders who wrote the Constitution.
I think people like her are fine people. They just don’t think. They just don’t understand where the wealthy put their money. Where it will pay back=profit=what people need and will pay for. It’s pretty simple. Stop tinkering with what is demonstrably the best thing that’s happened to humanity: capitalism. Only through it was it possible to conceive of things like a social safety net. Let’s put the cart back behind the horse where it belongs. That cart ain‘t pullin’ no horse nowhere.
And Cain was wrong: not brainwashed but bribed. He was just too polite to say so.
Heckler Interrupts Obama Fundraiser: ‘You’re the Antichrist!’
September 28, 2011 at 1:31pm
Hecklers like this do a world of good for Obama. Anyone who thinks he didn’t come off smelling like roses must have a cold. Please, for God’s sake, don’t do this kind of thing. “Is that his jacket?” seemed quite sincere. What a bloody fool!

Cease and Desist, ‘American Girl’: Tom Petty Allegedly Upset Over Bachmann’s Use of Song

Cutting off your nose to spite your face? How Petty!
Cease and Desist, ‘American Girl’: Tom Petty Allegedly Upset Over Bachmann’s Use of Song

Fair use allows, as you’ve said, teachers to illustrate lectures by quoting copyrighted works. But it doesn’t allow them to run off a full book. They have to buy them. Campaigns run full songs, often repeated many times. But here’s the catch: is the event generating income? If so, fair use law will not cover its usage.
To use works to generate income, one has to have permission of publisher, author, performer, record label even for excerpts. Watch the credits at the end of movies. Political events purpose to generate donations. I don‘t think it’s covered in fair use law.
Besides, why would she want to offend Petty? Let Petty look petty and ask Daryl Worley to use “I Will Not Back Down?”
