  • You are absolutely correct! Most officers are our best advocates in time of need. I also have a big question for the DCPD. While it is illegal to own some firearms in DC, this man is not a DC resident, & inner-state transportation laws between counties applies. Beyond that, he was provably transporting firearms between states, which requires federal firearms transportation laws to usurp every municipality between point A and point B. For those that do not understand this, imagine being pulled over in a town on your way to a place outside your state, and your insurance company does not do business in that state; this is common by the way. The individual cannot be convicted of having inappropriate or no insurance; they are neither a resident of that state or the municipality.

Not only did this fine young man NOT break the law, DCPD has now committed a federal crime by not returning his property. They have impaired his 2nd amendment rights grievously in the delay tactics alone. DCPD neither followed the letter nor the color of law.

Thank you for the time you devoted in protecting us citizenry. We can be a handful sometimes!

  • The disgust is aimed at the fact this pic is on the cover instead of being the article photo. I breast fed. A lot; hungry kid. In public. I would no more force the unsuspecting public to my exposure than I would want someone exposing themselves to me. It is called basic human decency. Apparently, there are those that would like to see such things as the art of decency, respect, and common sense become extinct. Her choice to breastfeed, and to what age, are her own decisions. The magazine’s decision to force parents into discussions with their children regarding this as it is visible from gas station, grocery stores, & news counters, is indecent, disrespectful, & rather nonsensical. I stand by my statement that if this what is necessary to obtain readership for Time, they are already irrelevant.

  • If a pic of this nature is necessary on the cover to obtain readership, they are already irrelevant. So much for attempting to check out of the local grocery store with children in tow.

  • I have witnessed slugs troll. I have met cool-aid drinkers so vile of their fellow citizens as to literally leave a foul taste in my mouth. But I have yet to hear faeces speak. Sadly, I will only be able to have the gross displeasure of reading your filth. How you could make so many assumptions; all negative, while claiming what you do is beyond the realms of even irrational comparison. The only humour in your espousing is that you appear to believe you are bloody brilliant. Pog ma thon. On second thought, nay; wouldn’t want to risk the contaminates.

  • @Jonahsback – ‘ Gotta love the delay in posts sometimes. Wasn’t finding this perspective (although I am tired and impatient right now) . . . until hitting the send button. THEN I get the privilege of seeing your post! Right thinking, you! But don’t you just love listening to the intolerant argue with themselves and still lose? Priceless!

  • Anyone notice that superintendent Nancy Pynch-Worthylake provides the perfect example of why this student is well within his school-appointed rights to wear this shirt? She states that slogans proclaiming the actions of others are inappropriate. In other words; no finger pointing. She then states that slogans that are personal / non-finger pointing are acceptable. The shirt this young man wears states, “life is wasted without Jesus.” That is no indictment of individuals which are non-Christian. That is a personal belief related directly to the wearer. He is not only well within his rights, the superintendent just gave his potential attorneys the smoking gun to prove religious intolerance and the base of any provable bullying. Blazing biltrixes!

  • We take care of that at the onset, BigDaddyD (love the handle). The goat for milk and kidding gets a sweet name, the kids we raise for chevon are named things like “saute” or “panfry”. The sheep, ducks, chickens, and geese are the same way. We have had only one exception. Merry the Sweet Sheep was an Exmoor lamb we got young and wooly. Some of that shedding wool was really his wee manliness, so he was renamed Merriweather the Sweet Sheep That Will Taste Good. We knew he would be huge and the potential for damage while he was in rut too great. Hated to see him go; but by golly, that was a tasty year!

And if you have the room and the funds to keep old chickens around; then, why not? If they are nice, then they just add to the joy of owning a flock. Then again, the way we cull is dorky to some of the farmers around here: if it’s mean, we eat it. Everything is handled gently and lovingly from the get-go. We play with our food before we eat it. If they are aggressive and flying talons or teeth at humans and animals, there is a good chance they will be caught in mid air and not even realize what happened next. Have fun with your flock. If only more would experience the joy and heartbreak of care-taking some of God’s creatures!

  • @Equaljustice:

Avian flu is passed on by birds when humans come in direct contact with the bird (alive or dead) or with the feces. This includes wild bird feces in the yard, on railings, or wherever it may have dropped, regardless if one can see the traces left. Keeping chickens will not determine if one could potentially contract avian flu. Other animals are also susceptible to various avian flu strains, such as pigs. Hence the rise of H1N1 mini-epidemic.

Just as in the case of West Nile Virus; the oft-stated previous potential pandemic, the virus was transmitted to humans and other animal species, and some perished. But far more not only survived the flu, but never became sick. The reason WNV is no longer a threat to this country is because the majority are naturally immune. That immunity building occurs as a direct result of our intricate but effective imuno-responses. It works beautifully. So go out and enjoy nature responsibly, your immune system will do you proud, unless you have spent most of your life indoors and attached to an antiseptic/antibacterial container. Then; well, you are the weakest link. Goodbye ;-) .

  • @Duckhead: You apparently have never worked with children for any length of time. This young man sounds eerily similar to the same age-group of boys. . . way up here in OhioLand! Children and sponges have a lot in common; they mutually have an incredibly porous nature to both simultaneously suck up that in their surroundings and to seep out such nonsense as, “please clean your room,“ or ”your only chore today is to take out the garbage.”

The show to which this young lad refers takes imagination to glorious heights. He has absorbed his surroundings and utilized them brilliantly! That you would think this is an impossible feet for an average 4th grader is sad, indeed. Go volunteer at the church sunday school, a Scout Troop, or the school’s reading mentor program. They will teach you a thing or two about the joys of life. Give it a try, I dare you. Prove yourself wrong and have a blast in the process!

  • Blackwolf, I fly at both international and regional airports around the country. Many times, I pick up my ticket at the desk. It has taken me less than 5 minutes; and as little as 2 minutes, to get my tickets at O’Hare, DFW, Cleve Hopkins, Akron / Canton, Pitt., and Atlanta.

Listen to the audio for additional details. She was there. The plane was boarding. The doors were still open. The gate was not closed. Are you really buying the TSA whitewash of 1/2 truths? Just curious.
