We must always remember, Beck represents the worst of our societal challenges, that leaves us to discredit people with name calling and sensationalism.
Worst of all, the many outrageous “commentators” like Beck are taking that behavior with them to the bank while our country and our fellow citizens spend little or no time really examining the issues or having conversations dedicated to finding solutions to our many problems.

“Under God” was shoved into the pledge during the McCarthy insanity. This is something that you Republicans are probably unaware of because Fox News hasn’t told you yet. (And never will).

It should be omitted. I mean, if we heard kids reciting it, but using Allah (gasp) instead, Americans would call it child abuse.
The whole pledge of allegiance is so ridiculous in the first place. If we heard kids reciting it in another country, we’d call it indoctrination.

The TEA Party keep saying they want to return the country to traditional values, well, here you go. The original pledge did not contain the reference to God.

The words “under God” were added by Congress in 1954 during the madness of the McCarthy era. Those of us who believe in the separation of church & state, find it an offense to have abridged the original pledge with the mention of a religious concept.
The founding fathers’ intent on separation of church & state seems to have been brushed aside & forgotten by some, but not by all. NBC had no reason to apologize.
“On 2002-JUN-26, a three judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals voted 2 to 1 to declare the Pledge unconstitutional because of the addition of the phrase “under God.” This decision only affects the states of AK, AZ, CA, HI, ID, MT, NV, OR and WA.
The ruling stating that “the text of the official Pledge, codified in federal law, impermissibly takes a position with respect to the purely religious question of the existence and identity of God.“ ”

As a Christian, I’ve often been troubled by the pledge, because my allegiance is not to any specific country but to my Lord & Savior – who knows no political boundaries, nor repects any one particular flag.
