  • I grew up Catholic and never remember hearing the word “tithing”. My parents always called it a donation. But if there is ever pressure from a situation to be generous -there it is. Pass the basket around. You could put your money in an envelope, but lots of people just threw in some cash. Imagine neighbors on each side of you knowing what it is that you’re contributing.

  • Why do Christian leaders deny that “Mormons” are Christians?

The Great Jehovah, Jesus Christ, gave Moses His law.

His law was taught for thousands of years.

When He came as “man”, Christ taught new doctrines and commandments. This offended and threatened the religious leaders.

Proud, and self-righteous Jewish leaders rejected Jesus’ claim that he was the Son of God and came to fulfill the law.

Some said He “had a devil”.

They denied Jesus’ power and authority.

    Some followed Him anyway.

What was the difference between those who accepted Jesus Christ and His doctrines and those who rejected Him?

Now, nearly 2000 years after the New Testament was recorded, it should not bewilder me that Christian “leaders” of our day would deny that the resurrected Christ has the power and authority to do more and teach us further.

We Latter Day Saints claim to be Christian because Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our faith.
He continues to lead us today.

Do Christian leaders today deny the power and authority of the resurrected Christ or his ability to teach through a prophet?

Study the Old and new Testaments and the early Christian church.

    Seek wisdom and understanding.

We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

We believe that through the atonement of Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

He is our Savior. He lives. He has

  • Hot topic! I think the Savior said it best, “By their fruits, ye shall know them.”
It’s not a matter of what they say or what religion they claim, it is simply their actions that declare whether or not they follow Christ. There is the litmus test. Period.

  • For some reason, I believe Coulter. I think she’s right on this one.
Ron Paul – scary – way too far right. Just saying, as a person who grew up with law-abiding alcoholic and smoking parents, legalizing drugs is a really bad idea- one that will destroy our nation’s most fundamental unit, the family.
Plus, seriously, does Ron Paul exude strength at all?
He’s right about most things, but where he’s wrong, he’s flat-out dangerous!
    Santorum? Maybe.

  • Glenn, Glenn…,
    Civil union, fine. Marriage, no.
Why is government involved in marriage? Why wouldn’t it be? A partnership where children are created by both involved parties; homes, cars, furniture are purchased; lives are lived together with the expectation that the contract is void only with the death of a partner. This is the traditional view of marriage. I’m grateful that government sees it as a legitimate and legal partnership. There isn’t a more important partnership in all of society. And it is the leaders of government responsibility to do all they can to protect the traditional family as the fundamental unit of society.
The more “alternative lifestyles” are legitimized, the more they’re promoted, the more chaotic society becomes. I have no animosity toward those who practice homosexuality. I do believe it is sin. Sin is anything that keeps us from being worthy of blessings. They may have the blessing of raising children, but deny themselves the blessing and power of creating life within their union.
I sin, too. I hope for forgiveness. I believe in mercy toward others. But to encourage sin is an offense to God. Why would Santorum go around and say he‘s fine with gay marriage if he just isn’t? Some things are clearer to some than they are to others. He should not back off the social issues. The social issues are his main reason for running. He should offer his heartfelt convictions and either be accepted or rejected for them.

  • Grace is misunderstood by people of all religions, but truly it is quite simple. Faith without works is dead. Yet works“ justifieth a man not at all”.
In Mosaic law, a man or woman might obey all of God’s laws (which were often the laws of “government”, as well), and expect that mere obedience to those laws set out by the ancient prophets, including those that foreshadowed the atonement of Christ (ie..animal sacrifice), would guarantee them a good standing with God, the Father. Christ and his apostles taught that mere obedience to the laws (which were punishable by and through the laws of their “government”) would not guarantee a man or woman eternal life.Only through faith in Jesus Christ, God’s Son, and his atoning sacrifice would a person be saved. It was necessary to teach these things to the early Christians so that they would understand that Jesus, through his infinite atoning sacrifice, had fulfilled Mosaic law. Jews and others who accepted Christ needed to go from being outwardly motivated to do the right thing, to being inwardly motivated to follow Christ’s teachings and believe/accept that his blood (rather than that of animal sacrifice, as was laid out in the Old Testament) would now be an infinite and eternal sacrifice and that their only sacrifice should be repentance of their sins. Faith in Christ is shown through our repentance (our works), but those works alone cannot justify us. Neither can we be justified without them – to some degree.

  • So…. if I thought some guy who was creepy and harassing had a real shot at being the next president of the United States, I would report the harassment. On the other hand, Cain might have been friendly and comfortable with someone who isn’t comfortable with friendly people. We all have had to deal with that type, right. If you always play it safe, you’re cold to people.
No one who really knows Herman Cain says anything except that he is a decent human being and a gentleman. Let’s face it- he‘s our only hope at getting a president who doesn’t live in some sense of denial about what’s really happening in our nation and in the world.

  • Seriously?? Have you listened to this man? If he’s being phony, he deserves an oscar.
No. We cannot trust in any man, but if this guy isn’t for real, we might as well stop listening to everyone because no one could ever appear more genuine than Herman Cain.

  • Poor Al fears an end to racism. He would be a man without a cause or a job. Obama and Cain both are “black”, as if that should matter to any of us, but the difference between them is night and day. Only one of them is a real man. The other is juvenile.

  • Fight unfair or untrue speech with more speech. This was the right thing to do and he should keep doing it! This is the only way to bring America together and to bring the United States of America back to what it is meant to be.
