  • Dear Allen West,
I love your mind, your heart and your service to this country. My son has PTSD and a Purple Heart from the last 12 months spent in the Helmand Province with the 101st where he lost 56 men in his company. I am so disgusted by people who think they know what war is like — when they have never served, nor held their child as they decompress from another nightmare brought on by the Hell that is war. Thank-you for speaking on their behalf.

  • You are giving conservatives a bad name through your ignorance, People! 1. The Muppets are owned by the Jim Henson Company, a subsidiary of Disney (who is definitely pro-capitolism — no hugs and free admittance to a theme park there!) Sesame Street is a PBS owned show that contracted Henson to create characters for them and licenses them from the Jim Henson Company. Notice there were no Sesame Street Muppets in the movie. The script itself included a greedy character who was scrooge-like, grinch-like etc. Typical good guy/bad guy concept. I don’t know about you, but there is a difference between capitalism and greed. The lack of understanding is what causes idiot liberals to rage ignorantly. I taught my 5 children not to be greedy but to work hard to be profitable. Greed is a sin. Now. In the movie, the seemingly outdated and washed up Muppets (who all have other JOBS) get back together to renew their entertainment success. It works and they buy back their (formerly) Rich and Famous contract from their agent and begin rebuild the Muppet empire. IT’S A MOVIE. A PROFITABLE MOVIE! And one we can enjoy as a family.

  • We have been planning to build one of these as a guest bunk house on our Colorado mountain property. As long as it is under 12 X 12 — no permit needed! This is a great example. We have been looking through A Treehouse Book by Candida Collins for ideas — but The Blaze came through with the best yet!

  • This was a big news story here in Colorado Springs. The alternative lifestyle half way houses get their funding — but not Christian lifestyle. The moral (or lack thereof) is: Oppose God and His Word and get my tax dollars. Every school has a GLBT support group but you can’t have a Bible study. That said — shame on you Christians who do not love every soul regardless. Your hate has brought this on you. You tolerate so called Christian husbands who abuse their wives (in the name of submission) and you make your places of worship multimillion dollar show places. You become the butt of secular jokes because you want your Barbie-doll wives and country club husbands while praising Jesus for your prosperity. There is nothing wrong with any of the above — but it has become an idol in the church. A very gifted vocalist friend of mine in Springs could not make the worship team at a big box church because she didn’t fit the image they wanted to project. She was a well dressed special ed teacher but chubby. And you wonder why the world sees us as hypocrites? We are being persecuted for good reason. Love those who persecute you and pray for them. Stop the hate speech toward those who don’t live Christ-like. If they don’t know Christ how can they? If they do know Christ — let God work on them while you take that log out of your eye.
I am thrilled Glen is in a place to give like he does. The joy his family gets from giving is equal to the gift.

  • I live in Colorado Springs and am sickened by this story. First they build a Wiccan alter at the Academy for those who worship in “alternatively” and there have been several stories about Christian discrimination recently from there. I think they have gone off their nut because Focus on the Family is based here and heaven forbid they show any Christian allegiance. My two boys are Army and they have said that branch has become just as bad. This is a problem in leadership.

  • I am a teacher at a Core Knowledge charter school. I returned to college 10 years ago (at the age of 40) to earn a masters degree in teaching because I saw a liberal education system destroying our youth. I earn 30,500 a year — 1/2 of my former salary as a county administrator for volunteer service program. Because our (non-union) school‘s national test scores are so far above the local public school’s, we are constantly harassed and fought against by unionized educators. How about performance pay? I’m game.

  • Such love. I can only cry for the loss this family suffers.

  • My son came home from Afghanistan with a purple heart and a broken spirit. He loved this country and was proud to be a soldier until he got to Afghanistan and watched as thug “leadership” allowed 56 great men from his company die senselessly because of our rules of engagement. They could witness Taliban attacking — yet if they put down their guns or hid behind women and children, our soldiers could not do anything. At 23, he is a disabled vet who will vote. One day, he will be proud of this country again. God be with the families of these men who got the phone call or the visit. They will never be the same again.

  • Steve Jobs is an American entrepreneurial hero. He started a company in his garage and built it into an empire. Under his leadership Apple gave us Graphic User Interface, the mouse, PIXAR films, new music devices, touch screens, smart phones, etc. People have slammed his business methods because the campus is very closed. I worked for Apple part time (to support my Mac habit) and the employees are treated VERY well (no unions) — He is one of my business and marketing heroes. My prayers are with he and his wife and children. This is a very tough time for them all. Sarcastic comments on this site and subject are very disappointing.
