  I wish that Christians could understand that their “understanding” of what the term Chosen People means is generally and vastly different than what a Jew understands. EVERY HUMAN is a creation of G-d – every soul is precious. Israel was given the Torah to be a conduit to all humanity – it is an extra obligation – not a banner of superiority. In no way is a Jewish soul considered “superior” to any other human soul. Indeed, G-d is not a respector of race/creed/sex/nationality – each soul is unique and will face G-d as a unique entity. We are each responsible to G-d for ourself – and our obligation is to make the best ourself we can AND help others as they work their path. We are blessed with the Torah and this gives us insight into civility and a path towards each of us finding G-d. The Torah insists that the stranger and the Jew are subject to the SAME laws and SAME justice – for they are the SAME.
  Some Christians view Jews with such condescension – assuming that since we don’t believe the faith as they understand it we are somehow either: blind/cursed/damned/suffering so the non-Jews can get the golden ticket of salvation/abandoned by God/etc. Others label us all with the same tarnished brush – I know that Georgie Soros is biologically a Jew – but please, don‘t saddle me with this atrocious man’s evil.   I find Rick Perry’s strategy of being a barking dog very annoying — I hope he goes far away. These candidates need to fight against the current resident in the white house and his progressive travelers – this constant bickering is not appropriate.

  Rose –
  The law should be the same for ALL – Islam treats some differently creating INJUSTICE in the name of justice (look at the Coptic Christians in Egypt – the centuries of dis-harmony in India – the horrors of the Umma against the Dhimni for ~1400 years).
  This is the root of separation between Muslims and all others. In Israel (today & in ancient times) the stranger was treated the same as the Israeli in the law. Why do you think that Arab Israelis want to stay in Israel and not live in any of the surrounding hell-holes of despotism?
  Why is Israeli land called “occupied” when the huge swatches of “palestinian” land occupied by Jordan et.al. is ignored in your “solution”?
  The ONLY party wanting/willing to have a true 2-state solution has been Israel — the other “party” of the negotiations has refused to take yes for an answer and perverts the “peace” process.

  The poll is unanswerable for me as my answer changes with a series of varialbes. For example the size of my order, the items in my order (IF a lot of coded items then I prefer cashier who knows the codes vs. me looking each one up), the crowds at the various check out lines and my schedule. I like having the option to self-check.

  1) YEA! The ruling was just. This is a case of Civil Disobedience by behaving most uncivilly. The shouters denied the speaker the opportunity to freely express his views and the audience from hearing those views. These students were guilty and deserve their sentence – I just wish that their community service would not be done with their hate groups – but I suspect it will. And I would like to see them suspended from school until they learn to honor others.

  2) I am disturbed by so many people rising to the rantings of Rosy-Ellen and her bigoted speech. We see her for the racist she is. Let that be enough. DON’T drop to her level and paint all Muslims with her (or is it his) filth.

  Not all Muslims are good. Not all Muslims are bad. Not all Muslims are Rose-Ellen. Thank God.

  Overreacting by hating all Muslims plays into the game — resist the temptation to give back hate for hate. Of course, that doesn’t mean rolling over and letting the evil acts of some Muslims get a pass. Prosecute. Prevent. And be aware – yea – I am for monitoring mosques where hate is preached (not to mention other hate centers like Jerry Wright’s little church) – let’s shine the light on these bigots and racists – reveal the truth and their hate looses power.

  Obama good for Jews? Then I guess Jimmy Carter was terrific –of course in Jimmy’s mind he loves the Jew (as long as they change and stop being Jewish). Obama seems clearer – he doesn’t insist Jews change themselves fundamentally – he just wants them gone ala “rev” wright (was there ever a greater misnomer for a man’s philosophy than “right”??)

  Separately – I am confused because the original partition plan included 2 states (Israel and TransJordan) and then the UN declared 2 states … Israel has agreed to 2 states several times. Sadly, the only group against the 2 state are the fascist Arabs masquerading as Palestinians p now they want a new 2 state solution that seems to be Palestine and no-jew land

  The moniker “the chosen people” is sooooo misunderstood. Jews do not consider ourselves different/preferred/superior vs. any other of G-d’s creation. Every soul is equally precious to G-d … what we do with our life generates merit in our father’s eyes. We simply were blessed with the Torah and the obligations therein. We are required to share this with all our human brethren. In part it requires the Jew to treat ALL HUMANS the same under G-d’s laws. We are required to love our neighbors (where do you think Jesus got that principle? G-d does not change). Rabbi’s our teachers – not revered as a special class of being.
  This Rabbi acted to save a life, bravely if foolishly since he did not have insulation. He seems to have saved a life – as the Talmud says “to save a life is to save the world”.

  As to the pile of crap about “the Jews controlling the Media” and “evil cabals plotting (fill in the blank)”:
  1) if it was true, these media controlling jews are the worst incompetents in history
  2) there ARE bad jews as there are bad in every people. Happily, because of following the tenets of the Torah, percentage wise there are fewer violent criminals/fraud merchants (yeah – exceptions exist like Bernie Madoff) etc. vs. many other ethnic groups —- and higher percentages of do-gooders such as doctors, scientists, humanitarians.   warning – as I typed this it came out kindof preachy – skip if you aren’t familiar w/bible

  Not “all” American Jews support Mr. Obama — I certainly have not and do not, though many in my family are sympathetic to a liberal mindset. However, the crew in occupation of the white house and congress are doing a bang-up job at changing their minds (and I am happy for that at least).

  I shudder at what is to come in Israel and the surrounding areas (God has clearly described it in the prophets) – the surrounding nations will gather as the world says “just give in and give us peace” — there will be a horrible war/destruction and all will celebrate their “peace” at the expense of the Israelis (and yes, world Jewry will once again get to be the scapegoat for tyrants – not looking forward to that).

  These fascists veiled in Islam are an obvious evil. They will cause/incite a horrible war. BUT, at the brink of destruction someone cloaked in goodness will make/force/create a “peace”. This is the character to really fear and be wary of. He/it will claim to be humanity’s messiah — and many will buy it and hate those who point out “he ain’t God”.
