  • A tongue-in-cheek demonstration of the tactics used by some self-proclaimed cult experts can be found on the Web page for the popular CultMaster 2000 Software System. This powerful software enables you to prove that anybody you don’t agree with belongs to a cult. (Not for the comically impaired!) A demo of the one of the many tools that come with the CultMaster 2000 CD set is the Letter of Love to a Cultist. Try it today! (Customize your own version online and send a printout to a cultist you love.)

  • According to the dictionary, “cult” can also mean a group that pays special devotion to some individual. For example, in the Compact Oxford English Dictionary, the first definition given is “a system of religious worship directed towards a particular figure or object.” Yes, I suppose that definition fits us as well, with the particular figure or object of our worship being Jesus Christ. So, yes, we are guilty as charged – but forgiven! (And yes, you bet we believe in the grace and Atonement of Jesus Christ – it’s our only hope.)

  • So now what?? Are you going to try and “save” every mormon out there? Since you studied “real” mormon doctrine and theology. How do you know that they don’t study the scriptures? maybe its up to them to go through their life, with little or abundance of such knowledge, there are many young members in the church, finding their way, strengthening their testimonies when it is their time to grow or not. Maybe you should talk to the prophet tell him you think its a cult. Or maybe you should just let us believe in what we hold dear to us, if you feel we are “losing our way” “falling short of Christ” then let it be on us. Maybe you should just move out of Zion, if it bothers you that bad.

  • Abnormal,

Yes I know that in Rev 14:6 …”and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

That is why the church is world wide and missionaries go forth into other countries to preach the gospel, and there are temples and even more temples are being built, still it keeps growing.

Your puny little ‘cult list’ is no match for millions of testimonies, with the power of the Holy Ghost.

  • Obviously the Al-Qaeda reference was a joke.
But because The Latter Day Saints (mormons) are not a cult.
I found your points of a cult on this article out of place and laughable.

  • To all those who have a disdain and hatred for Latter Day Saints (mormons)
Disclaimer: I am a Latter Day Saint. Yes we believe and accept the Bible. I believe based on my own personal experiences and reasons but I am not the one on this site bashing others’ beliefs.
But just to make a point here:

Why do you other christians believe in the Bible?
Is it because it is what you have been taught to believe?
Or you choose to have faith binding you to your belief?

To reject the Gold Plates and Moroni and Joseph Smiths’ Testimony based on the fact that its not probable in your way of thinking. Or because you weren’t there.

What about events in the Bible that you can’t prove?
    Moses parting the Red Sea.
Jonah in the belly of a fish for 3 days.
Noahs’ ark and all animals coming into it.
Even Jesus himself and his miracles and most importantly his resurrection.

The Book of Mormon does not diminish the importance of the Bible, it supports and exalts it.

    Revelation 14:6
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel…

This is the angel Moroni, he had the Gold Plates. America is the promised land, the jews rejected the gospel and therefore it was given to the gentiles.

Jesus set up his church, a prophet and 12 apostles, it was supposed to be the church of the meridian day saints.
So today we have just that, a prophet, (Monson), 12 apostles, it is the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints.

  • In response to abnormalslc, below.

  • Sounds like Alex Jones when he describes The New World Order.

Have you ever attended a church meeting? Go someday (hint: on a Sunday)
and just sit during the one hour Sacrement meeting. Open up your heart just a little.

If you can’t do this one thing, then I suggest: You believe what you want and allow others to believe what they want.

  • Are you talking about Al-Qaeda???

  • Tex

No magic involved, they are not called magic underwear, they are called Temple Garments, and it is sacred to us, so I am going to have to ask you to please respect our sacred holy items.

Are you confused between Muslims and Mormons??

Joseph Smith had one wife her name was Emma Hale Smith.
You know not what you say. Joseph Smith must have felt the same way as Jesus did, “forgive them Father for they know not what they do”
