  • Unfornately, the trend for the church has been to become a “good feel” place to associate and say that I am a “believer” and a “christian”. Don’t forget to throw your cash in the offering box as it goes by, cause this makes you feel good too. I once lived this life. I called myself a christian, drank the same wine, was a fornicater, a liar and did not have a personal walk with Christ outside the church except when I was in trouble and needed God to “save” me, again. The 1st century church was about teaching us how to be servants. Servants of Christ, this is our goal.”‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” This was the greatest commandment. Because when we love the Lord this way, like His Son, we will be servants. We are Americans and we demand to be served, but I am not serving unless I can get something out of it. We loose sight that our reward is eternal. I am blessed to be part of all non-paid staff church. I was told that my preaching was to harsh and that I need to preach more on faith, hope and love, then, more people will come. God doesnt want attendance, he wants hearts. • The church is not about attendance. The church is not about the numbers. The church is about teaching others to be servants of Christ.People do not want to serve, they want to be served. They do not want to practice, they want to be apart of something that makes them feel good. A lot of people come to church to get a feeling and they love the show. The church has unfortunately become a big time business with big time names. The church is a body of believers. I am a part of a group of all non-paid staff. I was told by someone that I need to be preaching more about faith, hope and love. I told this brother that this is the milk and honey of the word. The “church” is for teaching the Word, the meat, which comes down to how do we “obey” our risen Saviour. There are two types of Christians. Those who try to live like Christ (because He was perfect, we can try) and those don’t. Living like Christ means giving up the lusts of the flesh and following a narrow path. The church today looks to much like the world today. When we are finally willing to seperate ourselves from our selfish desires, and be servants at home, in the work place and at church, then, Christ will be glorified. Remember, sin is one thing only, not drugs, not alcohol, but complete selfishness. Adam said I want what Eve. Eve said I want what God has. Sin is selfishness. The total opposite of selfishness, is Gods perfect love, complete and utter unselfishness that He would give up His Son for us.
