  If the Republican Party is going to attract voters outside its comfort zone of foreign policy I believe they need to better articulate their vision of America as a military power. Continuing the existing methodology of the “War of Terrorism” is one that is entirely unacceptable to a good portion of the American population. This feeling of unacceptability is not one that is isolated to liberals in the Democratic party but is also shared by voting blocks that include, the young, Libertarians, Independents, and other smaller factions. I believe that if the Republican Party continues its hard line on this War on Terrorism they will lose the hearts and minds of the voting blocs I have just mentioned.
  Outright dismissing any alternative view of how to handle the Muslim extremists issue does well for the Republican base but completely turns off potential constituents. This knee-jerk reaction should be reevaluated because the GOP cannot win with only its base. Ron Paul has a significant source of supporters that the GOP can tap into if only they took his foreign policy seriously and tried to understand why conservative types support it instead of simply dismissing it as dangerous. People like the idea of declaring war, fighting it, winning it, and ending it instead of the never-ending Orwellian view of the existing War on Terrorism.
