  • This site has more grammatical, factual, and typographical errors that even the HuffPost! EXTINCT means there are NONE remaining with which to re-establish a population. They may have been thought to have been extinct, but since some clearly remained to propagate if they are being reintroduced, they were not actually extinct. At least throw in some quotation marks to indicate some knowledge of the meaning of the word. It’s amazing how incompetent and lazy Americans have become in virtually every area of life.

  • The Mavericks had a no defense 7 ft center from China many years ago and their announcer did the same think, though I think he was oblivious to the double meaning at the time. Something along the lines of ‘the ***** in the defensive armor right now is Wang’. There followed an uncomfortable silence of a few seconds, but I never heard anyone make a complaint. I thought I was the only one that heard it, but I later talked to another who had.

  • I wish him all the luck. He has the desperation and reaching for something to fill whatever is missing. I hope religion works, but if he ever lets himself doubt (reason), he’s a goner.

  • highfalutin heifer: def. – female that is out of control as in a young female cattle that is difficult to manage and unruly. I’ve dealt with enough of the bovine and human types to know this well.

  • The economy pre-bust can only come back if there is another bubble….so isn‘t that a good thing if it doesn’t come back? Haven’t most realized that the boom economies over the last century were the result of artificial stimulus usually due to governmental interference? We do the rah rah, America is the greatest economic engine in the history of the world as we ignore the piling on of debt to pay for it. Someone has to make the case that the high standard of living isn’t realistic and we must start living within our means. That means a lower quality of healthcare, retirement, military, among other things. If we can‘t or won’t pay for it, we have no right to expect it as some sort of entitlement because we were born in America.

  • Gregory served Santorum a softball and he whiffed. He could have hammered Gregory in headline fashion, but instead he answered the question as if it were legitimate and worth of respect.

  • Killing anything for fun is wrong?! If you are killing an invasive species that is destroying the natural ecosystem, making it fun is genius! These guys were pretty pathetic at it, but a real dedicated professional martial artist could really make that interesting…

    In reply to rosie1000.

They’re both blowhards. Demanding apologies for an over the top reaction to an over the top statement is childish.

  • Hard to say which is the very best, but this one was unique in that his body is so far away from the basket and so high that his arm is horizontal with the basket as the shot goes down. He did use Perkins as a ladder to get the last couple of inches, but still it was amazing.

  • I like this site and enjoy the comments, but I hate the way they are sorted. Far too disjointed and disorganized. Do you have to be a premium member to get any use out of it? I’m about done trying to communicate through this mess.

But as for this kid’s near death experience and all those like it, researchers have found several ways the the brain can be induced to replicate these experiences. Subjects report lights, tunnels, dead relatives, angels, euphoria, overwhelming sense of love and acceptance, burning embers, etc. I saw video of one subject who had a near death experience in his life and was subsequently a subject of this research and he reported no discernible difference between the two experiences. How that should effect your beliefs about life after death or spirituality, I don’t presume to know, but it is a fact that it is a natural reaction to various stimuli whether natural or artificially applied to the brain. God is in your neurons. Is that real, or an evolved coping mechanism to prevent psychosis. Knowing you will die eventually is a uniquely human thing and spiritualism is the means by which we cope with both known, unknown and unknowable. Is it real? Well, experiments in quantum mechanics indicate anything that is possible, is. Or nothing is real. Or we are all just Sims playing a part on some megabrain computer. SO why sweat it?
