  • 3katmomma; I could NOT agree more. I am another who has not, will not ever use facebook or ‘tweet’. May God bless this family and departed child.

  • Or perhaps one of the ‘management’ recognized the gun ‘cus it use to be his!

  • Wordweaver, I have come to believe these ‘educators’ who take this kind of action with no critical thought process are prime examples of what Government School ‘education’ accomplishes. If you have a child in a Government School take the child out of that environment and put him/her into a private or home school situation. Save the child.

  • Jessica Ahlquist, you are one individual who wants to remove the cross, right? Well, I’m one individual who wants it to stay. In addition, you have offended me. Are you going to pursue this type activity EVERYTIME you don’t get you way? You are so spoiled. Here the MAJORITY opinion rules. Why? Well, if EVERYBODY’S opinion was to be acted upon as you seem to want yours, trepidation would be the order of the day. Everyone, including you, would be afraid to do anything in fear of offending someone/anyone.

  • I do not know Florida law. But as a former member of the Board of Directors of a Mandeville Louisiana HOA and over a 10 year period holding the positions of president, treasurer and secretary I’ll add my 2 cents.

The association is responsible for maintaining everything OUTSIDE of the dweling, that is everything OUTSIDE of the INTERIOR of the dwelling.

The association does not OWN the interior. The condo owner OWNS the inside. If the owner is in arrears on dues take what actions are necessary to collect. In our HOA the association paid for the water services. If dues were not paid we locked out the water service. [That usually got immediate attention and results.} Nonpayment of dues DOES NOT give title of the condo to the association.

In Louisiana actions such as described in this article would result in the Board of Directors as a governing body, and severally being liable for damages and possible criminal charges.

Pasted from the article: “Kirsti, bless her soul, has no hearing protection and is wearing sunglasses instead of shooting glasses.”
I have yet to meet a hunter or anyone who shoots in environments as seen here wearing ‘proper ear and eye protection’.

Sorry, but I’m 77 and have never seen outdoorsmen [or women] using these unless at a shooting range – never when hunting, or having fun outdoors.

  • The “Volt” was conceived by, tested by and manufactured and sold by GM. Any faults found in the design and/or manufacture of the vehicle lies with GM. So WHY are we, the taxpaying public, paying for the firefighters training?? GM has the corporate liability; GM needs to foot the entire training bill. The tobacco companies [to name just one] have had to pay for the ‘injuries’ caused by their products. So why is this so different? [OK, other than the fact that Obama is involved.]

  • Amen brother! Been there!!

  • I have not read each post so my comment MAY have already been covered:

Your child school meals must meet ‘standards’ each day at school or it gets replaced and you get a bill. [Or is it really a penalty?] Hmmmm But suddenly it [they] realize that meals eaten at home by the student may not meet the required ‘standards’. Now ‘we’ will have to visit the child’s home to inspect the home menus and pantry. Opps, your child‘s home meals do not meet the ’standards’. You have two days to correct this situation or face fines and/or jail.

Sound farfetched? So does this entire ‘food police’ enforcement of ‘standards’. Hmmmm Maybe NOT so farfetched!! [Unless we as citizens push back; HARD. If we don't it will become more intrusive.]

  • Navyvetgreg: Gun Control??
Excuse me but the GUNS do not commit the crime; if that were really the case then arrest and jail the specific GUN[S] involved. Set a court date and try the GUNS. If found guilty, execute the GUNS. Don’t bother the person who aimed and fired the guns, the person is not guilty – the GUNS committed the crime!!
This is why ‘gun control’ laws are so ridiculous and ineffective. The gun [weapon if you please] is powerless until a PERSON activates it. Therefore the PERSON is in charge and should be found at fault if the gun [weapon] was used in a manner that injuries or kills someone.
