  • I was completely blown away by the #1 job that doesn’t require a college decree. Dental hygenist? Really? My daughter-in-law has been a hygenist now for four years. She needed one year of college prerequisits before she could even apply to the hygenist program at the college that she was attending. After being accepted into the program she had two more years of grueling study before she graduated with an associates degree in dental hygiene. She then had to take a state board before she could be licensed. Now maybe it is different in other states; she lives in Ohio. So for her job, three years of higher education was required.

  • I personally know a soldier who has done 2 tours in Iraq. While in high school, this young man was always called GI Joe, and couldn’t wait to graduate so he could join the army. He trained and has been part of a special ops team. After his second tour, he came back home and I had the chance to talk to him about his time overseas. His answers challenged everything I was believing and hearing in the conservative media at the time and really threw me into a time of reordering my perspective. He stated that we had no right to be there, that the war was a lost cause, and that we needed to get out as soon as possible. That was back in 2008.

We the people are not privy to everything our government does. If you do some digging you will see that our involvement in the Middle East has indeed caused what Ron Paul calls blowback. As Americans, we do ourselves no favors by simply parroting the talking heads. There have been real policies, instituted by our government, that have come back to bite us in the backside. Consider this. We all know how corrupt our government officials are in Washington. If they have corrupt domestic policy, why would their foreign policy be any different?

I believe the young soldier first and foremost. After all, he was there, in person, for over 2 years. If this American loving, gung ho, couldn’t wait to serve his country soldier had his eyes opened, then we need to have the full perspective as well.

  • So what? Their children are well behaved, they have the means to clothe, feed, and shelter them, and they are instilling them with good American values. I say we need more people like that in our society.

  • After reading through some of the comments, I am dismayed that the same vitriol that has been poured out over our local conservative airways is also present here.

Please, do not lump all public workers together as being greedy and ungrateful. My husband has been a school teacher for the last 22 years. He has NO CHOICE in whether he pays union dues or not. Almost 100 dollars a month goes to the Ohio Educaton Association. For this, we have to suffer all the liberal literature that comes into our home during every election.

We voted for Kasich and support the bill. We will vote yes. So when we hear people speak of teachers as being the “priveledged elite” and nothing but union hacks, it really gets me. Not all public workers stand for the union. Not all public workers are marxist liberals. Believe me, we will take a financial hit for this, but we believe in the greatness of America and desire the socialist stranglehold to be broken.

  • Wow, let the farmers buy their own insurance. What a novel and common sense idea. No wonder all those “smart” people in Washington never thought of that.

  • Steve Jobs is the example of what can happen when an individual takes a dream and acts on it. I can’t even begin to match him on intelligence or initiative; however, I do know this. Death is the great equalizer of humanity. We all WILL die. But there is One who not only defeated death, but conquered it as well. His name is Jesus Christ, and I pray that Steve Jobs knew Him.

  • I never did, until just now. It’s very creepy. I could bring up where I live, my age, and how many people live in my house. I could even find out the names and ages of my kids. For a fee I could find out a lot more. the info is there, just for the taking. Definitely makes you think.

  • “Also, the roads and infrastructure are there for everyone to use equally, what you do with them as an individual determines your success. (results will vary)”

    Exactly right!!

  • I have 4 sons. My eldest, upon graduating high school, went to work in a small factory in our area. Because of his hard work, punctuality, and responsible demeanor, he ended up in the office doing all the invoicing. He was 18 years old. At 19, he bought his first home and got married. Over the next several years, he and his wife both worked and went to school. She now works in a dentist office and he is a student advisor at our local branch of a major university and working on his masters degree. He is now 28. Does he grumble that everything is unfair because he has to pay back student loans? (And he has quite a few.) No. They live simply and don’t complain. We live in a very depressed area where jobs are few and sparse. Yet, both are working.

People say that the generation that gave birth to the baby boomers was the greatest generation. I beg to differ. Their children, the boomers, raised an irresponsible, spoiled me generation and it has gone downhill from there. These people want something for nothing, and feel that the world owes them simply for living.

Take responsiblity, work hard. You may not earn millions, but you will have some self respect, something that seems to be missing at the OWS.

  • I support God’s Isreal said: MAKE THEM DEFEND THEMSELVES instead of us defending ourselves.

This statement is absolutely right on the money. We conservatives always feel like we have to defend and explain ourselves. We defend ourselves against being racist, being greedy, having a home, having money, the list goes on. I wonder how much of Miss Piven’s earnings go toward the poor, or the homeless, or the hungry.

We need to be the one’s to get in these liberal faces and call them what they are. Elitest idealogues who don’t care about anything but indoctrinating the masses to bulld their dreamland called Utopia. Has Piven gone to serve in any soup kitchens or food distribution centers lately? Has she offered to shelter the homeless in her own home? Does she take her salary and earnings and give to the family down the street? I bet not.

Get out of my country and go to some third world dictatorship and see how far your socially just filled speeches get over there.
