  • I’ve been a GS leader for the past 11 years. There have been many changes in GSUSA in that time supposedly in order to encourage more girl participation. The new GS Journey books that I have read (mostly for the older GS-juniors on up) are all filled with liberal propaganda-feel free to decide for yourself by borrowing some books. Fortunately, GS also grants much freedom in what the troops do, earn etc. My high school troops have always marched to their own drummer and we very loosely follow the journeys-there is useful information in them. That said, everyone should read for themselves. I have between my two high school troops, 27 wonderful young women I work with who volunteer their time for very many activities from feeding the hungry, helping with activities in town and helping other organizations. 9 out of 15 of the girls in my Ambassador troop were just inducted into National Honor Society for school. They appreciate the support you have given them through your purchase of thin mints and support of the Girl Scouts. I understand if you can no longer support them though-most of our fundraising is through car washes and babysitting anyway :)
