  Why shouldn’t parents take a child out to eat at 10pm? Perhaps it is spring break?

  As for the hospital situation, it is to cover the parents butt as much as anything. If said child went to school and talked about it, the teacher would be required to report it as neglect or abuse (I was a mandated reporter for years) so by taking the child to the hospital to prove he was fine, there is a record AND proof that it occured with OUT parental permission.

  LOL!!! Actually talking and making noise work great. Anytime we berry pick, go hiking or do anything near bears (living in Alaska that is often) we just make a lot of noise. Usually the bears flee before us quickly but of course who wouldn’t with a bunch of children heading your way.

  I feel bad for the man and his wife but they obviously did not understand some of the basic rules of the wilderness. The blame lies with them, not a wild animal doing what is natural.

  I am so sorry for all those who knew everyone injured or killed today. This is a terrible tragedy and it honestly doesn’t matter what the politcal leanings of the murderer are. He is a murderer, period.
