    That’s crazy talk.

Actually, that’s kind of what I was referencing. I feel like you can lead more people home by living a right life and reflecting the love and patience of Jesus than you can through derision, judgment and preaching.

  • Most of the comments on a story like this make me sad, and when folks like most of you get Obama reelected, I hop you all come post in that story to congratulate yourself.

From the God side of things, isn‘t all of this part of God’s will? Are you so prideful that you think you know what He wants when he repeatedly tells you you can’t hope to understand his plan? How do you reconcile God’s infallibility with the fact that he condemned humanity to begin in incest? Did Eve marry Cain? Was she married to both Cain AND Adam? Did Adam and Cain hump their kids and grandkids? There has to be a better way to spread God’s word than through derision. Why don’t we see people pushing for anti-adultery amendments? Or Anti-sodomy legislation? Those issues are MUCH more pervasive than gay marriage. Adultery destroys more marriages and families than all the gay folks in the world could ever hope to.

I just don’t get the lack of reason in these comments… Do you acknowledge that other religions routinely grant marriage? Do you acknowledge that people that have NO religion routinely get married? How can you then turn around and demand that YOUR version of marriage be legislated? How can you be so prideful as to insist that only your version of your religion should be legislated? What if Catholics managed to pass a law that only Catholic marriages would be respected by law? Or only Mormon marriage? These things are unlikely… But, so is having a black President.

  • This pretty much guarantees my seat in hell, but I laughed my ass off when I saw that picture.

You guys on both sides of this one can feign outrage all you want, but humor, even of the gallows variety, will get us further than all this mock-disgust and white guilt.

  • Grasping at straws here.

  • It is only a moral issue to those with a specific religious upbringing.

Unless the bride-to-be was trying to consummate the marriage on the counter in the store, she wasn’t forcing immorality on anyone.

If every religious business owner in the country stopped selling their goods/services to people that would use them in immoral/sinful ways, our economy would grind to a halt.

  • If you choose to judge people based on things that they have no control over, yes, that makes you a bigot.

Lucky for you, you have that freedom in our country!

Unfortunately for you, viewpoints like yours, that only some peoples’ freedoms and rights matter, is the reason you can’t be more free to be an even bigger bigot.

Seems like quite the paradox, yes?

  • You seem to have mistaken my point.

I don’t have a problem with racists and bigots, so long as they are capable of existing within the law, and are respectful of everyone’s RIGHTS.

You don’t have a right to buy a wedding dress, so the shopkeeper was not in the wrong. To take a stand is not a bigoted action, unless the principle you stand for is bigoted.

I feel that everyone that wants to is free to remain a bigot. No problem there.

As to tolerance and apathy, I’d say, yes, apathy is destroying us. You have to remember, though, that every civilization is born from the crumbs of another- so on that account, our great nation never would have existed without tolerance and apathy.

How do you know that it’s not tolerance of your specific breed of bigotry that allows you to continue?

  • That’s odd… I have 2 female dogs, and they climb on each other all the time…

Sorry, I forgot that your knowledge and anecdotal evidence is so extensive that it rivals… Oh, wait, that would be blasphemous… Guess we better not go there.

  • Heh… Your local evidence is certainly exactly how the rest of the country is… Oh wait…

I guess getting dragged behind a pick-up truck until you‘re dead doesn’t count as ‘mistreated.’

That was only national news. But hey, everything is great in South Florida…

  • The bride can’t be called a bigot because she TRIED to indulge the shopowner.

And yes, you are entitled to your beliefs, but you are also entitled to the repercussions and lash of public opinion that they cause.

    Also, um,

I guess it matters WHOSE definition of marriage you go by…
