  That depends on what kind of shooting you wish to do. A good quality pistol for home/self defense is probably a good place to start. But whatever you decide you should do a little research on your own, and not just take the word or opinion of a dealer at the gun shop, or strangers on the internet, who’s opinions may or may not be backed up by facts. And also consider getting some training with whatever weapon you decide on. A pistol or carbine class is not just educational, it’s a lot of fun too! And it’s money well spent that can make a real difference should you ever need to use it for real.

  Dum dum liberal writers who don‘t know what they’re talking about, but have an agenda to push. I agree whole heartedly. And the B.S. about the unreliability of the M4 is 60 yr. old propaganda. There are many manufacturers of quality M16/M4/AR15 style rifles in the U.S. (such as Colt, Daniel Defense, BCM to name a few). Just as there are as many manufacturers of cheap, unreliable, rifles. (DPMS, Delton, Bushmaster) It’s up to the consumer to do his homework and decide where best to put his money.
