  I don’t know what everyone is getting their knickers in a twist about. I thought it was fine. I have heard a LOT worse than this.
  Seems like sometimes people just make negative comments because the headline tells them to.

  I am not sure where you get your definition of tohu va bohu. It is incorrect.

  Genesis vs 2 Tohu: Without form, formless. Bohu: empty
  Tohu bohu means that there is no life there.
  vs 3 on: What is without form must be formed, forming, space. Ist day light: day, night.;. 2nd day: Firmament: sky, water. 3rd day: Land, vegetation.
  Filling, content. What is emptied must be filled 4th day lights: sun, moon. 5th day: birds, fish (inhabitants of sky and water). 6th day Animals and humans. That is the creation story as recorded in Scripture. There is not the slightest hint that there was anything more than, at best, a formless something floating in space that was completely devoid of life.

  I don‘t know where you got the idea of destroyed but it isn’t in the Hebrew. When I said I had no problem with there being something pre-existent before creation I wasn’t suggesting a previous creation that had to be destroyed and recreated, that is quite simply not even remotely suggested.
  What is without form must be formed and what is empty must be filled.
  The idea of some sort of “regeneration”, as you call it, is not there.
  How old was this formless, empty “earth” before God created life on it is anybody’s guess, it isn’t even considered by the writer of Genesis as it has no importance in the story. So I agree with you that creation “ex nihilo” isn’t explicit in the text, the idea of any “form” or “filling” before the creation narrative is not supported by

  @MR_MEANER,
  I wasn’t addressing the possibility that there was something here that “was without form and void” I was addressing the absolutely erroneous idea that “yom”, when it is associated with a number, can mean anything other that a literal 24 hour day. Once the Genesis narrative begins to refer to the actual days of creation they are, indeed, 24 hour days just as we experience today.
  I don’t know if there was “something” here before the actual creation days in the text or not and it in no way changes the point I was making.

  Absolutely not. The Hebrew is unequivocal. EVERY SINGLE time that the hebrew “yom” is associated with a number, “first” day “second” day, it ALWAYS, WITHOUT EXCEPTION means a literal 24 hour period.
  I realize not everyone has studied Hebrew (I have) but this information is readily available. Anyone who claims to know Hebrew and suggests that the creation account in Genesis can refer to anything other than literal 24 hour days is either a liar or just plain ignorant.
  Those Christians who have been flocking to ID are denying the clearest teaching of Scripture, period.

  I see people quoting this all the time. You might want to do a check and see just when Scripture proclaims that David was a man after God’s own heart. It was BEFORE he was even king.
  God doesn’t take sin lightly and David knew that. Some of the most beautiful examples of sincere repentance are found in David’s Psalms.But please, let’s not try and suggest that David “was a man after God’s own heart” while he was engaging in sin.

  Um…the truck ran a red light. How on earth is this the girl’s fault? The fact that the truck ran a red light is WAY down in the SECOND paragraph. I realize it takes a herculean effort to read the all the way down to the third sentence but maybe you should have put forth the effort before making such a nonsensical comment.

  Seriously drakkhandemon? Did you read the story? Did you read that the girl’s family released this? Did you happen to notice the conspicuously absent section of video that leads up to the tasering? Even with what they released this girl has struggled away from and pushed the officer. That in itself justifies his actions as far as I’m concerned! What happened before that that the family didn’t want us to see? The problem isn’t what the officer did, the problem is the attitude of this spoiled brat and the brainless adults who defend her!

  A see an awful lot of comments by people saying “once they hit the ground they were no longer a threat” and the like. I don‘t know about you but I can’t see what was going on behind that counter, have you all got x-ray vision? All I see is these two hags jumping the counter and strutting like “dey alla dat” and hunting for the guy, who comes back and starts hitting them before they get a chance to continue their assault.
  Don’t get me wrong, I too think he went to extremes in his response to being attacked by these two psychos, but were they lying there continuing to kick him? None of us here knows because we weren‘t there and the video doesn’t show it.
  I seem to recall a video out of LA of police beating Rodney King unceasingly and they got off because each response to the pain of the blows was considered an aggressive action against them.
