  First of all retirees do not receive 50% of their pay. Under the old system it was 50% of base pay (not including housing, COLA etc) which comes out to about 33-35% of their entire pay they are used to getting. Under the current system called (high 3) it may be even less because they average the base pay for the last three years of service and then take 50% of that which could and does end up less than the 50% number everyone talks about.
  The health care that was mentioned has been changed many times already. Under the old system again health care was provided for life after retiring (sometimes a combination of Mitlitary Treatment Facilities and VA) but under the current system called Tricare for Life retirees now pay a premium and deductible for health care treatment (if they choose Standard Tricare they can get around paying the yearly premium but still have a deductible) as well as a 75%/25% split with Tricare. Plans have already been approved for the cost of the healthcare to rise each year for the premiums to bring the healthcare benefits in line with civilian plans. Also, once you turn 65 under Tricare you end up enrolling in Medicare just like all the other civilians in the US.
  Still sound like they are overpaid??

  Lone Ranger:
  Exactly what I was thinking. Even if they decide this is not a “hate” crime (which it is) they can still charge them with crimes (assualt and battery etc) but the article doesn’t say they are going to get charged with anything. Let’s hope they do.

  Its not the 250K that is different it is the number of months that we have to produce that many jobs to ge to 2007 levels that keeps increasing.

  OK – couple of things that I think need to be checked out.
  First of all, the birth certificate that the White House released lists Obama’s birth as August 4, 1961. It also lists Barack Hussein Obama as his father. No big deal, right? At the time of Obama’s birth, it also shows that his father is aged 25 years old, and that Obama’s father was born in “Kenya, East Africa”. This wouldn’t seem like anything of concern, except the fact that Kenya did not even exist until 1963, two whole years after Obama’s birth, and 27 years after his father’s birth. How could have Obama’s father have been born in a country that did not yet exist? Up and until Kenya was formed in 1963, it was known as the “British East Africa Protectorate”.
  The second is the hospital that Obama was born in. On the birth certificate released by the White House, the listed place of birth is “Kapi’olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital”. This cannot be, because the hospital(s) in question in 1961 were called “KauiKeolani Children’s Hospital“ and ”Kapi’olani Maternity Home”, respectively. The name did not change to Kapi’olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital until 1978, when these two hospitals merged. How can this particular name of the hospital be on a birth certificate dated 1961 if this name had not yet been applied to it until 1978?

  Section 1 of Article Two of the United States Constitution sets forth the eligibility requirements for serving as President of the United States:

  “ No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

  You have preached to us to do our own homework over and over. I have done my homework and I still have a big question mark in my mind about this issue. Don’t tell us what to do or you have become like the rest of the establishment who think they know what is better for us and we are obviously too ignorant to know what is right and what is wrong.
  The question mark that is in my mind on this issue can be answered by Mr. Obama simply showing us his true Birth Certificate and not another copy of the Certificate of Live Birth. Unitl the question is answered it will remain an issue and should.

  I wonder if we would have seen the same reaction if it had been an Islamic child drawing a picture of killing a Jew or Christian? Definitely would have gotten a reaction- just don’t know if it would have been the same OVER reaction.
