  • @AXELPHANTOM: If the Feds did take over Central Park, the wildlife folks could do what they did here, repopulate the area with animals that were indigenous before they were were bumped off because they are dangerous to mankind or are nuisance animals. We just got an infusion of gray wolves and cayotes.

Just think, they could reintroduce copper heads, wolves, cayotes, lions, bobcats ,deer, and heaven knows what else. They could also stop all of that silly lawn mowing and remove all of the pavement to turn it back into pristine wilderness. Now, that would make all of those big city liberals really happy, Of course they would need a gun or two to take a walk in the park, but that should make them happy.

Three clips (not magazines, according to my 9mm pistol’s manufacturer and the U.S. Army) is a reasonable number for protection. Where I live, you are at least a half hour away from a sheriff’s deputy arriving (25 miles to the sheriff’s office). A half hour stand off with a home invader or your typical red neck thief requires a lot of loaded ammunition. I’m a little short of 30-06 rifle ammunition, right now, with less than 2,000 rounds in the house, and likewise on .22 caliber rounds wit only about 1,200 rounds.

I’m down to about 200 rounds of 9mm ammunition and need to make another trip to Wally World for some more. I only have one box of .38 caliber ammunition, but that pistol is the carry weapon, and it only has a 5 round cylinder.

So in my opinion,.the young Seal was not prepared for war, just for sensible self protection: specially in NYC where every non-criminal should carry!!

Anyone who thinks an intact hymen will protect them from pregnancy is “whistling Dixie.” Sperm can go right around a hymen, and/or if it is broken during intercourse, the only things to protect a woman is time of month, infertility, good luck, or God. Your comment reflects the reason many teens become pregnant . . . ignorance of the impregnation process’s realities.

  • @LET US PRAY
You can milk a bull, but you don’t get milk; just a happy bull. How’s that for politically incorrect?

  • You know, if I were a millionaire, I’d beg ,the government to tax me at the same average rates the middle class tax taxpayers pay, too! Hey, nine (9) percent is a heck of a lot better than the 27 percent the average person making a $-million a year pays. Yes!! Cut my taxes to where I pay as little as middle class tax payers! I beg you! PLEASE!! PLEASE!!!!!!

After all, we all want FAIRNESS, don’t we?

    Geez . . .

    In reply to Carolina Patriot.

    Blackhawk1,

Thank you, I appreciate it; however, if you want to do something about this sort of improper use of taxpayer money, contact your representative and senators and insist that they repeal the Earned Income Tax Credit. That‘s what I’m doing as a person who is receiving it, so there is no reason you, who are paying it, should not do so, too.

The Earned Income Tax Credit is nothing but a gimmick to get votes for the Democrat Party. It’s a pretty expensive gimmick, too.

And, you’re welcome for the advice.

Is this a 21st tax fact that will blow your mind??

I finally filed my federal and state income taxes on the 15th. I got a huge shock when I finished preparing them.

It was the refund (pause . . . let the drama build . . . get ready for the huge surprise). I actually got one. The important thing is that I didn’t pay any income taxes to either the state or the federal government in withholding or estimated taxes, but both are sending me money as a refund.

Now, we are clearly middle income folks. Being older, most of it comes from fixed benefit retirements. However, my wife worked as a substitute teacher and made a little spending money. She is also a professional musician and continues to perform in a semi-retired status. We did not have any capital gains income (like folks with fixed payment retirement plans, such as 401K plans), so much to our surprise, the government is going to refund us a right large amount of money we didn’t pay; a “refundable” tax credit.

Now, while I am happy to get a few bucks back from the feds after paying really large tax bills before retiring, I should have had to pay at least a few hundred dollars in taxes. After all, our gross income was about $50,000.

I guess I have joined the “MOOCHER” class, and I don’t like it. The fact that I got even a penny from the government at tax time is a major part of the problem the U.S. has with balancing its budgets. No one who pays no taxes should get a refund. It simply, “Does not compute!”

  • You know, I think Nancy’s right. Elections don’t matter, but only when Democrats win. Let’s face it, the current leaders of the Democrat party are frighteningly un-American (or stupid) that they cannot be taken seriously. So, there’s no reason to let them get any of their “stuff” passed in congress.

For a somewhat different take on the Democrat party and the views of its members, take a look at:

  • For the record, there is a circumstance where the flag should be burned. That is when its life is over and it is to be put to rest. To review your flag etiquette, go to:

When I was a kid, at about third grade we were taught flag etiquette, so I know that those of you who said to never burn the flag had a gap in your education.
