  • Ok, first of all, the constitution says

“Amendment I: CONGRESS shall make no law respecting an ESTABLISHMENT of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” (http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/bill_of_rights_transcript.html).

So, unless Congress makes the law, it’s not a law against religion. I’m not Christian (I am Wiccan) but I love Christmas, I like manger scenes, trees, and the whole holiday. Mine starts at Halloween (Samhain) and ends after New Years. I celebrate with Jewish friends, Hindu friends, and Christian friends. I respect their rights to have their religion and they respect my rights. It’s called RESPECT.

Something we seem to be lacking in this country. Sadly.

  • I have a 9 year old grand daughter who is in the 4th grade. These kids do notice who is “cute” and who isn’t. At this age it’s just a “hey, she’s cute” comment, not a sexual hitting on thing. The substitute over reacted by going to the principal rather than talking to the youngster and saying something like “I appreciate what you told your friend, why don’t you go do (whatever they were supposed to be doing at the time)?” and refocus his attention to his work. That is how it was done “back in my day” (I graduated in 1975).

In high school, we had a tennis coach who was “OMG HOT!!!” He wore tennis shorts an a polo shirt almost every day and he had longer hair than any other male teacher in the school (remember, this was the early 1970′s). He was a typing teacher when he wasn’t coaching and there was always a class full of girls for him. He also had a fan club. The principals all knew this too, no one called it “sexual harassment” or anything else. It was NORMAL stuff for high school girls to have a crush. And he didn’t encourage it, he was married and had two kids and all the girls knew it. But they still had crushes on him.

It‘s sad to see what’s happening now days when kids can‘t even appreciate their teacher’s looks.

  • The Gunny is my hero! He stood up and did his duty and continues to represent the Corps in the best light. Oh, and for those who haven’t been told (I had a Marine friend tell me), the only time there is an “ex-Marine” is when he/she is busted out dishonorably. All others are “former Marines” because once a Marine, always a Marine!

I also wonder how many of you recognized the jacket the Gunny was wearing? That patch was of probably most famous Marine units ever: the Black Sheep Squadron (which was not the screwed up idiots of the TV series).

I would love it if he was given an office in the Pentagon or a Cabinet post. Heck, I would vote for and would work for him if he decided to be President.

Oh, and I’m not a former/ex/whatever Marine. I just have friends in the services and I honor all of them for their services.
