  • I don’t have any answers to why gun sales are up so high, but something closer to home is bothering me. I have a relative and three close friends who never owned a firearm in their life. (One is a physician) I spent hours at the range schooling them in gun safety, cleaning, and proper handling and shooting. I asked each one of them at different times why they decided to own a firearm. I got the same vague answer from each one of them; “I am not sure, my gut just tells me it is the right thing to do”. I believe people have a subconscious disguised heighten sense of awareness; in other words, they know something is really wrong, but can’t put their finger on it. Why? They have a normalcy bias and compensate by living in a state of denial. So what is the root cause? Easy, they no longer feel safe; plain and simple. You could state hundreds of reasons why people want to arm themselves, but really boils down to this one root cause. Now, there could be hundreds of reasons why people no longer feel safe; in fact, enough to fill volumes. People, this statistic about gun purchases is ominous, and I wouldn’t ignore it regardless of what side of the fence you are on. This isn’t going to end well.

  • Thomas Jefferson wrote if Americans remained people of the earth (farmers), liberty would remain. I grew up in the mid-west and never met a liberal farmer. In my opinion there are few occupations nobler than farming. Outside the cities in California, in rural farming communities you will find hard-core conservative people. (I am excluding “gentlemen” who use farming for tax breaks) The average age of the American farmer is about 62; more young people get degrees in physical education than agri-business. Farmers must rely on God, themselves, families and their neighbors; whereas, city people have long ago given up their Independence. When the individual American farmer is replaced by the corporate farmer, how much do you think your food will cost? Japan has (had) the same problem. Japanese young people wanted nothing to do with farming; Japan has Koreans working their fields. I wonder why our southwest has so many migrant workers from Mexico working our large corporate farms?

  • We see humor in a man who believes he has a real million dollar bill. Yet, the Federal Reserve creates billion of electronic million dollar bills every day. When I was about five years old, Golden Books produced hundreds of titles for children. My two favorites are: “The King has no clothes” and “The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs.” Just these two books should be required college reading, especially for liberals. Complex issues are not that complex when Aesop writes them for children.

  • I have many friends who are conservative Republicans and think like a libertarian; however, they can’t cross over because they believe that libertarians want to legalize drugs, prostitution, and especially abortion. There is an alternative: Consequentialist libertarianism. I can’t speak for Ron Paul, but his actions place him in this category. Consequentialist libertarianism allows an individual free choice in his or her actions; however, all choices have consequences; you know, personal responsibility. I also believe Ron Paul’s economic philosophy follows that of Ludwig Heinrich Edler von Mises, another Consequentialist libertarian. Many successful business men and women follow the Austrian School of Economics business model. I encourage you to read more about Von Mises. Here is a quote “According to Mises, “Socialism must fail, as demand cannot be known without prices. Therefore, socialist waste of capital goods is as chronic as the incentives for production and retention of capital are low, while capital goods are coercively monopolized by a dysfunctional State operating with only the data pertaining to interpersonal comparisons of utility, as per democratic production”.

  • I must agree with you. If Obama has another four years, he will double his previous four years. If a Keynesian Republican is elected; the outcome will be exactly the same. Keynesian economics is like a hamster on a treadmill. Americans don’t have the fortitude to suffer the pain required to fix the problem now; however, the end result will be excruciating.

  • We keep looking for a political solution to solve our problems; I am afraid that is not going to happen. The Constitution has not failed us; we have failed defending the core values and principles of the Constitution. We keep looking for the perfect man or woman to get us out of this mess; well, there is not a perfect man or perfect woman… therefore, there cannot be a perfect politician or leader. The collective can never work, only the individual accepting personal responsibility can work. The collective will always rely or assume someone else will take responsibility to fix the mess that each one of us has caused. (Doing nothing, is just as immoral as supporting it.) Conservatives are being attacked from all sides and within… I sincerely believe both parties have been hijacked, and quite possibly by the same group. . One would think in this day and age of massive instant communication we would always know the truth, but sadly, the opposite is true. I still have no idea if Ron Paul supports Israel or not, I wish I did then I could support him hands down. Ron Paul has one thing going for him; both sides of the media are trying to discredit him and destroy him. (I no longer trust any news media outlet at all.) Historically, the last days of any country or civilization has a commonality; absence of truth. People will choose to believe what makes them comfortable. I am the most uncomfortable I have ever been in 57 years.

  • I have been a student of history for the last 35 years. When you read periods of history where you watch the destruction of a nation… people ask the same question; “how could this happen, didn’t they see where they were headed?” Answer: Denial

  • Actually, StonyBurk is correct. The KKK was started to prevent all Southerner’s from voting Republican. During Reconstruction approximately 3600 blacks were murdered and approximately 1600 whites were murdered. They had one thing in common; they were Lincoln Republicans. The first five black men that were elected to Congress were Republicans.

    In reply to Matthew.

Well said Matthew; in fact, Russia has no history of democracy.

  • What is Crony Capitalism? Sadly, we have not had free markets or true capitalism in the majority of my lifetime. Crony Capitalism is where government decides which companies get special favors such as GE, where they pay no income tax. The government creates regulations that prevents the free market companies from deciding price, and this of course stifles innovation. The other added benefit of Crony Capitalism is it allows Congressmen and Congresswomen to make millions by having inside information. They know in advance which companies their new laws and regulations will help get ahead and which companies they will kill. (BTW, since most young people only know Crony Capitalism and have never experienced Free Market Capitalism; they believe all Capitalism is bad.)

Wake up people. The same people who have broken our system we are expecting them to fix? For those of you who believe Atlas Shrugged was fiction, read it again, and see if you don’t see the exact parallel today. This video is not only shove it in the face of Crony Capitalism, it is also inspiring.
