  • Silly race-baiters…

She didn‘t point at his ’black’ half. She didn‘t point at his ’white’ half (these swirling turds in the bowl of Life never even consider that genetic fact).

SHE WAS POINTING AT THE STUPID WHOLE OF HIM.

I’m CM Sackett, and I approved this message.

  • GOOD GRIEF, Charlie Brown!

I worked retail when I was a kid… we were OPEN until closing time.

That said, am I the only one who remembers the generally ‘pleasant’ female voice (chosen purposely, to raise less ire in the male shopping force) coming over the intercom system at 5 minute intervals to announce:

“Attention $$$-mart shoppers. Your friendly $$$-mart store WILL BE CLOSING IN 15 Minutes.”
“Attention $$$-mart shoppers. Your friendly $$$-mart store WILL BE CLOSING IN 10 Minutes. Please begin making your way to the registers for checkout.”

    …and at 5 till:

“Attention $$$-mart shoppers. Your friendly $$$-mart store WILL BE CLOSING IN 5 Minutes. Please have ALL PURCHASES AT THE REGISTER NOW.”

    Point?

    1. The manager could have very easily “served” these folks by letting them in DURING OPEN HOURS. Then followed a generationally proven protocol of letting them (and anyone else still in the store) that time was RUNNING OUT.

    2. The store hours, publicly posted stated CLEARLY that they were to be considered OPEN until a given time. If that were not the case, then why post publicly your hours of BUSINESS?

    3. In all the years I worked in the SERVICE industry (and contrary to current actions on the part of many staff, at many different establishments – from SquirlMart to DedLobster, etc.), “closing time” was NEVER considered “WEHEADEDOUTDADOOR!” time form employees.

    In reply to afbranco.

I knew it wouldn’t be long, my friend, before your good work was ‘noticed’.

    WELL DONE!

  • Alan,

When things began to thin out in the early summer of ‘08 I sent resumes out regularly. I also began in earnest to complete a book I had been sharing “live” online, as I crafted it (fun process!). In early ‘09 I self-published it, and sold nearly 2,000 copies worldwide by word of mouth.

I have a second book of short stories (father-son, man things) about ready for formatting ~ 3 more stories to go.

In my ‘other life’ I spent 14 years as a missionary/teacher and Hospice chaplain. Divorce changed all that. I spent nearly a year homeless, staying intermittently with friends as I searched for work. During this process of grieving, and refusing to give up, I decided to take stock. I looked at the basic skill sets, aptitudes and experiences I had garnered over the years… and put them to work in marketing, training and project management.

My first client was ******* Barrel. I helped them design their then-‘new’ website feature “THE NEIGHBORHOOD” and wrote feature stories for them for about 2 years.

It was the beginning of a very fun, good fit!

I get up every morning, a WINNER. And I search every day for that organization, company that’s looking to add another to their team.

  • It’s not your color, fine sir.

I’ve been searching DAILY for over 3 years… (proven sustained and marked success in Project Management ~Marketing/Training/Instructional Design/Motivational Training,Speaking~ with clients such as Walmart, Motorola, Toyota, BEHR Paints, Ortho-McNeil, etc., etc., etc.)

I’m also a published author and photographer.

    NOTHING… yet.

  • With our government re-harnessed and limited to its CONSTITUTIONAL boundaries… many, MANY more Americans would be able to work toward having ‘too much time’ on their hands.

    So be it, again.

  • “I guess it is up to us, the living, to keep alive their memories and values.
May God help us do so.”

That is how it has always been… and ever shall be.

This beautiful window into AMERICA’S innocence-past does not make me ‘Nolstalgic’… IT MAKES ME RESOLVED.
