  • I’m with you. I’m an Army combat vet and a federal employee who placed duty to country and a stable (albeit a substantially lower) salary, over the big bucks chased by many of my private sector buddies. Aside form the occasional 2% increase (or thereabouts), I havent seen a salary increase since 1996. At the same time many of my buddies made on average $75K more per year for the same job I do…along withfar better retirement and medical plans. They bought all the toys and the expensive homes, and some of them investied well. Unfortunately some did not, and now that the private sector is hurting, they look at me like I’ve got it great. Are you kidding me? I was struggling to buy a home (any home) and keep take care of my kids while you vacationed in the islands and bought new cars and boats. In addition, because I’m not a CERS employee (I was hired after 1985), I don’t have the sweet federal retirement that most people associate with federal employment. Yea, there’s alot of bad ino out there, and someone’s got to be the scape-goat.
