  BURKANUCK…Excellent point! Upon re-watching the video with the thought in mind that the assailants may have been kicking the cashier, etc., which the video does not show, I see that as a real possibility. The cashier is not continuously swinging the metal rod. He pauses, and is keeping his eyes on his assailants, and then suddenly swings again. Very good insight!

  One more comment..I am a small woman. If a man larger than myself acted with such hostile aggression towards me and i had access to a weapon to defend myself, i most definitely would use it and i would make sure my assailant did not get back up again. This woman who attacked the cashier is a large woman and may even way more than the cashier. Let’s not assume that because he is a man and she is a woman that the woman is weaker. Who knows, maybe his own mother was big and used violence on him as a child. This cashier was obviously reacting out of tremendous fear. Rage is said to be the combination of fear and anger. I would perceive his reaction as rage. He needs counseling. If he is sent back to prison he might as well be hung. There will be no hope for the man.

  If the cashier had not reacted/responded, the woman would have most definitely been charged with assault if he chose to press charges. The fact that he reacted in such a manner does not release her from her responsibility and guilt as an assailant. Did he have a right to defend himself? Absolutely, especially once she continued her assault by jumping over the counter and pursuing him. She was without doubt the perpetrator. Did he use excessive behaviour in his response? Yes. He has a previous record of assault of which we do not know the details. What we are probably safe to assume is that 10 yrs. in prison taught him that if he is attacked he better be darn sure he completely stops his assailant or he would be killed. Most likely, in his mind, if he didn’t react the way he had, he would have been dead. Injured or not, she is the assailant/perpetrator and should be charged. The cashier obviously needs intense counseling to be de-programmed from prison life.

  Why is no one on the news commenting about how this 2% reduction in FICA will affect the elderly and disabled? If Social Security is broke, how is a 2% reduction going to help? Once again, the elderly and handicapped are left to die. Does anyone really believe that God is happy with the way this country is treating its elders and handicapped? He WILL NOT strive with man forever!
