  A fly swat, small switch, paddle, even a light belt is justified at a young age (under 12) if the punishment is for the child’s own benefit in learning a lesson. But a foul mouthed angry father and mother beating a 16 years old is criminal behavior.. I am a 67 year old conservative grandfather who grew up under corporal punishment from loving parents and still love them dearly long after they have gone on. However, if my dad had attacked me in that manner at 16 years of age, I would have defended myself in like manner and would have been completely justified in doing so!

  It’s this type of behavior by parents that make punks. This judge and his wife are both punks. I was raised with spankings when I deserved it. My parents were strict and clear, but they also never beat us to satisfy their own anger and self loathing. My parents are long gone now, and I have always loved them both dearly, but if my father would have EVER attacked me at 16 years old like that, I would have fought back in self defense. The judge deserves to be tied to a post and be given lashes from the same belt!

  Why weren’t there other videos before this?? Video cams uploading to computers were primitive in 2004, much less before that.

  She set them up?? Apparently, this abuse was common, otherwise she would not have known this would be his reaction.

  Why didn’t she post it or report it immediately?? Again, remember the speed of computers and the lack of sites in 2004… Technology wasn’t common then.. ALSO, at 16 she still had to go back to that abusive home after she reported/posted it.

  Anyone adult who assaults and beats a 16 year old is a felony criminal… end of story.

  It’s astounding that so many are trying to make this liberal/conservative… Repub/Demo… Texan/Yankee.. thing. None of those designations have ANYTHING to do with this. I am a staunch conservative who sees this as aggravated assault! I believe in corporal punishment properly administered where it is for the child’s benefit to learn a valuable lesson in life. I grew up in a home where corporal punishment was administered, and I don’t remember more than 5 times among 8 children in my lifetime when my parents found it necessary to spank or switch any of us. One or two whacks with a switch with a cool head was plenty.. Never was a child over 12 be spanked in our families. The same goes for my own children, and now my grandchildren. This is clearly assault, and the judge needs to be brought to trial under a felony count. If not that, at least he needs to be selling used cars or something other than judging law cases.

  This is all about $$$$$$$$$$$$. I lived in West Palm Beach area for 26 years before I wised up and moved away. There are more lawyers per capita there than you would believe. Their ads on TV and in print run neck and neck with used car sales ads. You can find a lawyer who will sue for anything except legal malpractice. Verdicts like this only serve to encourage more ambulance chasers to open up shop there. California has the reputation as being sue happy…. South Florida is just as bad.
  The child needs to be taken away from these parents along with the money to care for him.

  Don’t you just hate capitalism? Can’t stand owning our own homes; how awful to have money in our pockets… Super markets, cars, nice clothes, air conditioning… all those are abhorrent! Can’t wait for socialism, then Communism so we can get government apartments, share bathrooms with ten other tenants, ride broken down buses and stand in long lines for everything including food. Oh what a happy day that will be!

  You hit the nail on the head. I have watched Trump over the years and don’t care for the man. However, he’s the only one out there who is saying what must be said. Hopefully, he will back down and then back an electable conservative. Obama MUST be defeated in 2012.
