  • I would point out that one of the largest coming-togethers of various leaders of various faiths with a GLOBAL call to prayer was one for peace a few years ago. You say that when people of various faiths come together they have always won. I give just this one example of where that assertion was proven false.
My concern is that belief in myth should not supersede a rational approach to solving problems.

  • Good luck with that. I do hope Tx gets some rain but prayer
Is not the answer. I mean if you believe in intercessory prayer, why do studies show it has no value? The weather is the weather. Hopefully the pattern changes and they get some rain.

If you are interested , I didnt find a link to the original study but here is link to an interview with the cardiologist who conducted the 2006 prayer study.

  • As a non-believer is interesting to see the posts to this topic. The first reference had several pages of comments ( most of them the usual, “you will believe it when you are there” kind of response).
If god wanted to impart some universal truth on man, it has not worked out well. Religious folk have a wide variety of ideas about what is true.

  • Really? I have to ask: what sin is there in the galaxy that needs replacing, and how will the stars look without that sin?

  • The universe is an amazing place. It definitely instills a sense of wonder in me to contemplate the vastness and beauty of space.
But I would argue it makes the concept of god seem trivial.

  • @troll
It is nor very convincing to say you can refute something and then end a few general paragraphs with – why bother? Truth is that Christians want to claim all the great men of history even when these men would most likely not claim them.

  • This only further exposes a dangerous trend in the last century regarding faith and politics. We have had great men ( founders among them) that could not get elective office today because of their beliefs or lack thereof. We have somehow gone from rational thinkers to creationist as frontmen for political parties. Think about the idea that many of these men could never get elected today and where we would be without them.

  • Some Jews worked for the nazis. That does not change the facts.

  • Who cares, honestly. This is just put here to whip Christians into a frenzy. If you want to go back to the original – what’s the big deal? Do you not like the original pledge the founders used?
So many real issues. This crap annoys me.

  • Lots of odd negative comments here. Looks cool to me. It was no doubt designed to run on roads like the Autobahn that were built for higher speeds. I doubt the engineer was planning on mass production in the US. Modern materials are amazing. It’s cool to see them in action I think.
But this is an another odd story for this forum
