  • Over one quarter of the Greeks work for the govt. Seems to me like that society is in denial. They are flat broke, chin deep in debt, and they riot in the streets when someone tries to correct the situation. Why should other nations be on the hook to compensate for their irresponsible spending? Let them fail, and maybe they will learn a valuable lesson.

Bottom line; the people should be leery of the gift horse. Sure it’s nice to get a fat pension, full medical bennies, etc., but what will be the future cost? Is it sustainable? Should we accept somewhat less, if it means our welfare is better served by financial solvency? It does little good to dole out unrestrained benefits if the tab will eventually become too burdensome, and must be cancelled.

Someone has to pay for these “golden parachutes”, and when taxes can’t pay the bills any longer, who will pay? It appears that the taxpayers of other nations…..

  • I will add to this excellent post that our infrastructure was built using our money. If there is “priviledge” involved, it is the honor of wearing a badge, and wielding almost unlimited power.

  • I have cops in my family, and I know there are damned good men wearing a badge. I also appreciate how dangerous law enforcement is, and how a cop can become jaded after years on the street. They see humanity at their worst. But something that gets me steamed is the manpower, “backup” they call it, where many even minor crimes are going on. Sometimes up to 20 cruisers show up, 40-50 cops on the scene.

I recall after Katrina, a video of an old drunk black guy on the street in New Orleans. He was insulting cops, staggering around…my grandma could have cuffed the old guy, but, like 10 cops show up. They have the poor old bastard on his face, and two big burly cops with their knees on his back, wrenching his arms behind his back, and another guy pushing his head into the sidewalk. So maybe he should have been arrested, but they need that many muscle bound cops to deal with him? I gotta say, little wonder that the public has some objections about law enforcement.

It doesn’t have to be that way. when I was a kid, growing up in Montana, the smokey who patrolled the hiways around our town was a great guy named Dan Magone. We called him “Two Tone” for the paint on his cruiser. Dan would let us high school kids sit in his car while he lurked behind Mossey’s Texico, waiting for speeders. Everyone I ever knew thought Dan was a great man, and we had profound respect for him. He went on to be the Captain of the Mt Hiway Patrol. Cops like Dan generate good will and cooperation

  • I agree with the poster that said he has lost his respect for law enforcement. I still respect the law, and I give the cops credit where due, but I have had many very unsavory encounters with arrogant, abusive police officers. It would seem, once they pin that badge on, they get a God complex.

One specific police function that disgusts me is traffic. Not long ago we bought a car (in Chicago) from my brother (we drove from Michigan), and he told us, about the toll stations, “Just drive through them”. His car had an Ipass, and we were concerned how we could stay together if we had to stop with one car. So we get home, and a week later we get a bill from Illinois…$85.00!!! for running 2 toll booths. Apparently the Mi cops are in cahoots, and would arrest us if we didn’t pay.

I have seen more outrageous abuses in this vein than I can put down here. In Nebraska they built a new 6 lane hiway near us. The speed limit on I80, a 4 lane hiway, is 75 (80 if you go 5 over), but the limit on the new road, 60. I’ve seen cops lined up at the ent. ramps, nailing people on their morning commute.

But the worst one is the “Fines Doubled” in work zones, red markers for miles, and NO WORKERS! We just drove to Montana, and passed through dozens of these “work zones”. Lots of cops laying in wait to double dip unsuspecting motorists, but no work going on. Pitiful!!!!

  • “The government shall pass no law respecting religion, or the free exercise thereof”. This is a Constitutional right, in black and white. We are slipping in this country, and slipping fast into tyranny. There are plenty of “opinions” that may take issue, there always are. There would be contrasting “opinions” if someone stated the sky is blue. That’s why our founders put down, in writing, the rules of the road, and those rules have ONE OBJECTIVE…… FREEDOM.

Americans better come together if we hope to remain free. It’s that simple, no matter what anyone may say in rebuttal. When we are willing to surrender a fundamental right, such as worship, then the government will eventually find a way around every right we have.

  • This issue now transcends the question of citizenship. The question is; WHAT IS HE HIDING?

Human beings are naturally curious, and especially when we know someone is hiding something. Even liberls have to be curious as to what Obama’s college transcripts contain. Whatever it is, he has blown $1.7M to keep it a secret.

Maybe he had the clap, or a criminal record, or he’s a homosexual. But even these issues, while they may embarrass him, do not jeopardize his office. The public may be shocked, but they have a short memory. Why would he waste this small fortune to keep it hidden?

He openly revealed that he consorted with subversives in college, was proud of it apparently. We know about his Islamic background. If he was so willing to reveal these facts, what’s left to conceal? The one thing we can conclude is that, whatever it is, it would have ramifications NOW! He doesn’t want us to know SOMETHING that would have a negative effect on his position right now,

For this reason, alone, the American People should be demanding answers. It isn’t a matter of choice, we have a right to know! This man can alter our destiny with the stroke of a pen, and dammit, we have a right to know every tiny detail about our president.

The standard liberal reaction to this question is; “Racist!”, and they shout us down to silence us. This moronic display only piques my curiosity. It certainly does not retire the issue. If Barack Obama is an American citizen, then why the hell doesn’t he just show us his birth certificate, and be done with it??? His refusal to do so, in my view, is a tacit addmission of guilt. Unfortunately I don’t think anything will be done about it. In fact, in a debate for the Illinois Senate, he actually admitted he was born overseas. His opponent made this charge, and Obama responded; “So what? I’m not running for president!” Check it out….

  • The comical aspect of this kerfuffle is that God forbade pork because of the trychanosis larva. They didn’t have the technology in the old world to detect this threat. Other religions cling to this prohabition as well, even though modern scince has learned of this, and prevented any danger by proper cooking. Give God a break! He isn’t an arbitrary putz! He doesn’t command us to do stuff just because a critter is slovenly, etc. He created pigs to eat, but He also protects us when ignorance would pose a severe danger.

  • A resounding belly laugh is all the 111th Congress is good for. I hear them repeating their latest talking point…“the most productive post election Congress in history”, and laugh myself sick. The big question is how you define “productive”? If you mean churning our garbage, I’ll have to agree.

The very reason for designating them “lame duck” is to declare them ousted, kaput, finished. They had no right to ram through the laws they signed. The voters officially fired them, and they were supposed to just show up and fill their seats in the chamber, not tackle a full agenda of laws. These were laws they didn’t have the guts to take on while an election was in the offing.

  • This man gives journalists a bad name, and makes a mockery of the 4th Estate. I rarely dignify anything he says by a comment, but I must say; I would be surprised if more than a bus full of viewers even know who he is. I wouldn’t, if y‘all didn’t report on him. By the way, the same goes for Al Sharptongue. Stop giving these numbskulls free publicity!

  • New Yorkers are almost the heaviest taxed people in America, and this is the kind of “service” they get for those outrageous taxes? Unions have exceeded “special interests”. They have evolved into criminal enterprises at the higher levels. Striking the public sector, blackmailing the public, extortion, and fixing elections. I believe that rank-and-file union members are as outraged as the rest of us. It’s time to clean house, and put the unions down once and for all. We have EEOC laws, OSHA, and a list of other laws that protect workers. We don’t need a bunch of crooks running the show.
