  • Hawking Says God Not Needed for Creation

There seems to be two threads of thought here.

One, is that something can not be created from nothing except by God, and the second is that, it really doesn’t matter in the minds of scientist, or to Hawking: Everything can be explained without invoking god.

I have a different postulate. Sorry, if I missed this from someone else’s post.

Scientist have been looking for the explanation that describes what everything is made from – a unified theory. One theory suggest that everything started with a big-bang, the other is that the Universe exist on to infinity and has always existed.

We can “see” back to the light that existed 12 or 13 billion years ago; very close to the beginning of the theoretical big-bang. It wasn’t long ago that we could just make out the moons of Jupiter, the light from a few minutes ago.

We’re talking here about the physical Universe, the existence of energy and matter.

If the theory that the Universe always existed is found to be correct, then the question of creation from nothing is moot.

If we finally do discover the beginning of this Universe with the big-bang and find that this Universe was created from something instead of nothing, this also would make this issue moot.

E=MC squared was postulated by Einstein, a believer in God. This discovery didn’t shake his faith.

What the formula says is; that neither energy or matter can be created or destroyed, only transformed to one or the other. If he was right, than we’ll probably find out that the big-bang was not a “creation-from-nothing” event, but just a transformation from one to the other.

So, I for one, happen to agree with Dr. Hawking. The explanation of scientific theory and the explanation of matter and energy does not need God.

    In reply to VERACIOUS.

dhardy57: I was waiting for someone to quote scripture. Who wrote the scriptures? How did they know? Was their hand guided by God? All these writers? Did they actually hear what God said so they could write “let there be light?” If man can’t know the answers, how did these men know what to write? Why did God write a Bible with an Old Testament and than a new Bible with both Old and New. Why did God have some men write the Koran? How did the writers of the Bible know that the creation of the earth occure 5 or 6000 years before it was written? Right, they were told by God. Get it.
