Your number looks impressive, a nice little rhetorical device there, but considering it was 525,000 square miles of territory that works out to 660 dollars per square mile or a little over a dollar an acre. Not to mention that it included California, in which gold was going to be discovered within twelve months.

I will gladly take any land you have at twice the price per acre the US government paid for the Mexican Cession and I won’t even break into your house and force you to sell at gun point.

  • Yes, Kenny, we did. Even Beck included that the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed after the United States conquered Mexico City, the capital of Mexico, in his ludicrous rant.

  • So if Mexico invaded the United States, defeated our military, captured Washington and forced our government to give up every bit of territory west of the Mississippi in exchange for leaving Washington, Beck would not consider the Western United States occupied territory? It would simply become part of Mexico because “it was won squarely in victory.” Once again Beck shows what a moron with an agenda can do with a few facts.

I‘m glad to see Beck’s imperial desires are laid bare in this little commentary. Apparently he approves of the United States taking what it wants from weaker countries. Perhaps Glenn will use one of those ridiculous oval office speeches to clarify his plan for global domination. Maybe we can start with the conquest and colonization of the Congo River Basin in order to capitalize on the lucrative ivory trade.

  • @Patty

In a story about Muslim intolerance that slyly suggests that somehow Obama approves of the Iranian death sentence for gay men, you say that “The MUSLIMS” are pushing their agenda through a cocktail of drugs and homosexuality? Curious that you would ignore any evidence of intolerance suggested in the article to link homosexuals and Muslims together. It sounds more like the short list of things that Patty Henry hates. Your associations are laughable, but fun. Here is one of my own that makes as much sense as yours: Catholics (Cocaine and Marijuana….. Mexico, duh) are using drugs to tear our country apart and establish a new Holy Roman Empire in America based on the domination of the Pope and pedophile priests all with the help of the reanimated corpses of John, Robert and Teddy Kennedy.

Religion is a choice. Don’t push your behavioral choices on others.

  • @historyguy – being so learned in the Koran you must understand that the surahs are organized by length and not by date. Because a surah is shorter and therefore later in the Koran, it is given more credence? I would love to see a citation for that fact.

Neither Christianity nor Islam are religions of peace or war. Religion is simply another tool to be manipulated for political and military gain. Christians are quick to point out Muhammad’s warlike nature, but are quick to forget that Christianity was one of many large, but marginalized cults in the Roman Empire and only became the religion of power with Constantine’s acceptance. Constantine who legendarily converted after receiving revelation that belief in the Christian God would grant him victory over his political enemies at Milvian Bridge. That story of victory through Christian faith, such as Clovis’ conversion and subsequent victory over the Alemanni, were popular tools for converting warlike pagans in the Middle Ages that still influence Christian belief today. Every other story about the military on the Blaze celebrates its religiosity and condemns any atheism in the military.

The point is that defining the struggle against terrorists as one against faith makes the war broader and unwinnable. Osama Bin Laden wanted to characterize the conflict as Islam against the West/Christians in order to gain more support and prominence. The US military only validates those types of beliefs with this type of cla

  • “Do you know anybody like Obama?” You mean a black person? Apparently the overwhelming answer to that on this website is “No.”

I tried to watch this insanity, but couldn’t get past the first minute. He somehow asserts that Obama was saying that Selma caused his birth and than WHAM proves that wrong by saying that he was born four years earlier. Glenn seems to think that Obama was claiming that the events in Selma immediately led to his conception. That is crack historical analysis that impresses Beck fans? Does Beck not understand That Obama was claiming a link between the Civil Rights movement, expanded political rights for African Americans and his election as a prominent African-American politician? Is that too nuanced for Beck?

  • Somehow “the left” has a monopoly on selective editing? What about Blaze heroes O’Keefe and Breitbart?

So you’re saying that having a rudimentary understanding of the political spectrum is somehow “PC crap?” Nugent is not a moderate, this makes him look even more idiotic because he can’t even identify his own position.

John Wayne would be very pleased considering they both avoided military service for the advancement of their entertainment careers and then proceeded to serve as propagandists for the military industrial complex.

  • Oh, yes! Time to get fired up about “special rights!”

Get this! I just checked out my local Marriott and I can get special rates if I purchase tickets to the aquarium or agree to go on a special pub crawl. Not to mention the fact that had I wanted to attend this year’s Christian Home Educators of Washington conference I could have gotten special rates as well.

Wait, it seems that Marriott will extend “special rights” to anyone who asks. That kind of means that they aren’t special at all. Sad that your blind hate of homosexuals is so easily manipulated.

  • Wait, you mean vague references to “professors from Harvard, Yale, etc.” aren’t enough for you? I mean those passages certainly reflect the social values of the humans that produced the Bible, in its historical context I mean.

  • You/re totally right. The United States is all about intimidating people into abandoning their right to free speech. You guys are great patriots. Mussolini would have loved you.
