  As I understand it, the DNA they used was mitichondril (can’t spell it) DNA, DNA from the Jefferson‘s mother’s side of the family, which, over time doesn’t decompose as quickly. With this DNA they proved that only that someone in her line (could have been brother’s, cousins, etc.) was the father. In my opinion that led to a lot of confusion and people heard what they wanted to hear. I would hope the man had more integrity than to do that, but I would have hoped the rape of female slaves wouldn’t have happened under his watch either.
