  • Yeah, forget those bible-thumping neanderthals. They’re always saying things like “turn or burn” with no proof! What a bunch of intolerant illusion-loving idiots, too wrapped up with their imaginary friend in the clouds to care about the inherent contradictions in their “belief”. Spare me. The only rational thing to do is to respond with them with statements like “I wish I could see the look on their faces when they die and there’s nothing. But they won’t have faces and there will be no awareness. So they‘ll never get the realization that’s coming to them. That’s the saddest part.” Don’t worry about the little problem of offering proof for such a statement, just reply with something smarmy and condescending and their position is automatically trumped. In fact, slathering a generous amount of ego on anything will make it at least twice as true and half as contradictory as it was before, however that only works if you’re not a knuckle-dragging superstitious simpleton.

  • Remember folks, there is only one true Scotsman and that is Ron Paul. Every single person who has ever -thought- about running for president on the GOP ticket, even that hack Goldwater, was a dress-wearing Progressive pansy and a total sellout to the Man… I mean the Establishment… I mean the moderates. Yeah, the moderates. Anyway, you spineless “conservatives” that I put in “scare quotes” because I think that you are in fact “sellouts” and “unworthy of even the oxygen you are currently inhaling much less the right to vote” should really step back and consider the huge right…moderate…pansy-wing conspiracy that has spread these vicious rumors and bad press coverage about the sole worthwhile candidate in this race, or any race for that matter. There is no negative side to Paul because he has no negative side; any sort of perceived “weakness” or “radical stance” of his is really just your spineless pansy moderate sellout dress-wearing idiocy hiding you from the brilliant rays of truth that emanate from that man; although if you are red-green color blind the brilliant rays of truth can be hard to see sometimes but trust me, they’re there. Anyway, you’re all idiots and also secretly socialist liberal neanderthals who daydream about big government ruling every aspect of our lives, Ron Paul 2012, &c.

  • Interesting, I remember another group of people sneering and turning their noses up at another “unsophisticated, under educated alarmist” and his religious beliefs to support a far more well-spoken and erudite figure. The alarmist was Whittaker Chambers and the other guy was Alger Hiss. But you’d have to be a spiteful, hate-mongering superstitious Neanderthal to draw any connections from that incident and Downthewell’s behavior.

  • Pontiac,

My comment was referencing his insistence that those who worship one or more deities (imaginary friends, according to Libertarianforlife) keep those deities to themselves. However, the contradiction of posting such a comment on an article about a billboard that is doing the opposite of “KEEP[ing]“ beliefs ”TO YOURSELF” is what I was referring to. I concur that both Libertarianforlife and I have equal claim to posting comments on here, purchasing advertising space to proselytize whatever beliefs we have to the general public, etc. I am secure enough in my beliefs not to be offended by such a billboard.

  • Normal people always follow their comments two minutes later boasting about their literary skills. So? It’s not like those normal people are egotistical or anything.

  • Nicely said, Libertarianforlife:

“KEEP YOUR IMAGINARY FRIENDS TO YOURSELF.”

Contradiction much? Exactly how it is that the believers are to just shut up, keep their heads down, and leave that crap at home but the non believers can fund a billboard campaign ridiculing the believers?

  • So What Do the Occupy D.C. Protestors Really Want?

    In reply to pamela kay.

Yeah, Rose, because that worked so well for Greece, right? Anyway, let’s not stop there, let’s really make it a just society! Release all prisoners and expunge their records (since evil capitalism probably forced them into a life of crime anyway), kill anyone making over $100,000 and split it up evenly with the Democratic constituents…whoops I mean the “oppressed”, use the materials and capital of all those unmanned corporations to build giant apartment blocks to house people, and finally add three simple departments to our government: one to make sure people have Truth (truth is important, right?), Peace (only evil capitalist warmongering pigs want war!), and Plenty (because now that all the imperialist bourgeois fatcats are dead the people will no longer be deprived!). The best part? We’ll call them Ministries, because Europe is way smarter at this whole balance of capitalism-socialism than we are, so why shouldn’t we dedicate something to the Brits? They have a nice ring to them, don’t they? Ministry of Peace, Ministry of Plenty, Ministry of Truth…yeah, Rose, I think we’re on to something here.

  • Right on, Nightmare! However, I couldn’t help but notice you only used one “k” in “redneck”. Are you implying that rednecKKKs are oKKK to talKKK to? Anyway, you seem dead-set on associating Williams with a radical hate group that rose from the post-war Democrats being forced to give up slavery. Since you don’t seem particularly forthcoming with whatever evidence is tying Williams to the KKK, are you attempting to draw a correlation between Williams’ behavior and a group of murderers, thugs, and segregationists? Didn’t Williams try to draw a correlation between Obama and Boehner hanging out and Hitler and Netanyahu hanging out? What‘s the difference between your indictment of Williams and Williams’ indictment of Obama besides Williams not bothering to go to extreme lengths to incorporate the letters H-I-T-L-E-R into Obama’s name?

  • Come on guys, everyone knows that the poor are just waiting around (while simultaneously existing on a plane of existence where they are all above any sort of reproach for whatever actions they may or may not have taken to alleviate their condition) for your 10%. Seriously, just give 10% of your income and that plane of existence will explode (without harming any of those blameless poor people, natch) and those downtrodden members of society will magically grow money trees in their backyard, find business suits and job postings in decent-paying jobs underneath the pillows in their new suburban 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath houses, and whatever reason that had prevented them from integrating into the workforce before has now magically disappeared! The best part? Since that unreachable (for anyone earning over the poverty line) plane has been destroyed, there will never be any more poor people ever!

Seriously Symphonic? You’re really trying to tell us that tithing 10% is going to magically banish the poor from the Earth…for good? Well why not stop there, let’s tithe 20% and end all wars! Say, let’s even throw in 30% and get a cure for cancer. Or, you know, we could just accept the fact that yes, the poor are here to stay and no, a magic percent of money will solve the problem. What will? Volunteering, local outreach groups, and giving what you can to charities. Wait a tic, what’s that you say? That’s already being done? Well alrighty then.
