  • Everyone here is missing the point. Back in March in Tusla, OK, an elderly couple was beaten, the woman (92 years old), was sexually assaulted and killed by a black teenager. Why are we not hearing about this as well? We are only hearing about “white” on “black” crimes. The media is trying to divide this country.

  • We don’t receive as many subsidies as we used to due to prices going up. However, 15 years ago an acre of corn could be planted for $120. Today that same acre which produces about 40 to 50 more bushels of corn costs almost $400 to plant. Instead of subsidies it now has more to do with conservation programs.

  • Ditto! Go Cyclones! I didn‘t live on a farm growing up in Iowa and didn’t even know the difference between corn and beans, until, I fell in love with a ***gasp**** farmer! I left the state, moved to LA and then to Chicago. Glad to be home and loved participating in our Republican caucus tonight, even though I live on the “Left” Coast of Iowa.

  • Ok, folks. I agree that Sean Penn doesn’t have a real clue about Communism. But, please, most of us are conservatives, don‘t go around telling everyone you’d like to knock his block off! Because he lives in this country, he does have a right to express his love for Communism. What we need to do it teach him how Capitalism works! Oh wait, he should know that, the Hollywood left thinks he has talent and he makes lots of money. Since he is a leftist and probably loves the OWS folks, I think we all need to send him the address for the IRS so he can make more of a “donation” that what he is required to on his tax form.

Personally, I’m praying for his soul so that he may come to the light!

  • You can listen to him! WHO Radio can be found on iHeart Radio and if you go to their website, http://www.whoradio.com you can listen over the internet. He is great!

  • I wish we had done the same when we lost our first one at 20 weeks. Unless you have lost a precious child like this, most will never understand it. My heart goes out to the Duggar family for their loss.

  • Here’s the problem with this, does anyone remember the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002? You know SOX that was put into place after the Enron/Arthur Anderson, WorldCom fiascos? The law is very specific, both the CEO and CFO must sign and take responsibility for all the financial statements and can be held personally liable. I would love to see what is in the audit report. We already know laws were broken by commingling of business and client funds, any sophomore in college that has had an intermediate accounting class know this rule. What bothers me is that the people in this firm knew what they were doing. Where they that good to hide things from the auditors? I’m going to look at the SEC website and look at their annual and quarterly reports. I would suggest that anyone who does any investing check out the financial statements there as well.

  • Watch & Chat: GOP Debate Live From Iowa

    August 12, 2011 at 1:18am

Thankfully, I was able to attend the debate live tonight. First, this is probably the only chance I will ever get to see a live presidential debate and it was history making for me. I can honestly say after tonight, it reaffirmed my decision to take Romney, Huntsman, Newt, and Ron Paul out of my choices for the straw poll on Saturday. However, I did think that Santorum and Pawlenty did well. My sister and I disagree on some of Bachmann’s statements tonight.

Kuddos to Matt Strawn and the the rest of the leaders in the Republican Party of Iowa. They did a wonderful job with the details for the debate!

  • This is terrifying to us! We are the small family farm. The newest tractor we own is a 1983 Case. My husband had farmed his entire life beginning in his teens. He’s diabetic and will not qualify for a CDL. He’s in his mid-forties. What will he do now? We have never inherited any ground or equipment, we have done it ourselves and put up with the government regulations. When will it stop? We have to take our country back!

  • We used to farrow to finish hogs in the late 80s and 90s and we were approached to put up one of the confinement buildings you see here by Iowa Select Farms. Based on business decisions we chose not to enter into a contract with ISF. They are not a bad company, most of your meat in the store comes from IBP (now Tyson) and I wouldn’t spend a dime to buy from them.

I can tell you that we docked their tales just like in the clip because other pigs would chew on the tales and once they taste blood they eat their own. Sows are put into crates so they do not lay on their pigs and kill them. Hogs can be very mean and dangerous. We castrated just as in the clip as well. If you don‘t castrate the meat becomes rank and it’s only good for ground pork. Many of the injuries are from other hogs stepping on the noses and bodies of the piglets. I didn’t see them clipping the teeth like we used to either. I don’t care for confinement hogs but in order to bring them to market faster than “open range” this is what they do. They gain weight faster. I used to think the piglets were cute until I married the farmer and raised hogs. Yes, we did pick up the piglets and toss them back into the crate and it didn’t cause harm. I am just thankful that we have our own beef heard and have a few neighbors that still raise a few hogs. We know where our meat is coming from! Farm fresh bacon is more delicious than any I’ve ever purchased in a grocery store.
