  The problem with this is it establish an equivalency between what Rush said and what Flint did. In my mind there is no comparison. Fluke was discussing sexual issues and Rush commented on them in terms that gestured to a worldview most people would have of someone parading their sexual exploits in a national venue.

  On the other hand, S.E. was voicing opinions about many issues that did not reference her own sexual life.

  Rush’s audio is not likely to be haunting Fluke.
  S.E. (and her future children) will no doubt be haunted for a long time.

  I wouldn’t mind more of stuff like that. I don’t find this disgusting in itself, just misleading. These scenes are indeed part of the US, but not by any stretch of the imagination what sets the US apart from any country in the EU. Why bother?

  What this is about is exactly what the whole Elizabeth Warren debacle is about. It’s about politicians co opting minority status in order to forward their careers. When it was expedient for our president to call himself Kenyan, he did. What it wasn’t, he didn’t.

  The point is that in their eyes, race, ethnicity, gender are all categories that are there to be exploited for political ends and that as much as they shout from the hill tops that these things should be important to all of us, they are only important to them if it gains them something.

  Ok check my previous comments to know that I’m not some lefty nut job… First, my heart goes out to all concerned. Now…Here goes:
  1) you folks talk as if there is some trade off between the dogs life and poor child’s life. Killing the dog will not breathe life back ino the child, it will merely add yet another tragedy on top of another.
  2) we are told here that the dog had no previous record of visciouceness. If that is true then there clearly was some terrible mistake /accident here.
  3) one does not have to value animals over humans to want to preserve a life. Until you can give life, do not be so quick to take one in judgement. We have domesticated animals (and unlike a PETA pinhead I think domestication I a good thing) and by doing so we have assumed a responsibility for them. Part of that responsibility demands of us mercy and understanding. God made us stewards of the beast and such a role demands of us the same mercy we expect from God.
  4) there are sactuaries where such animals can live out their lives safely away from those they might harm. Refusing him that chance will not bring the child home.

  Add to all the allusions the fact that the slogan was announced in the midst of mayday “celebrations” and I don’t think our reading of it is very far fetched.
