  • To me religion and politics is separate. I believe Jesus would help the poor, sick, homeless, hurting and downtrodden 100% with all of his time and effort. However, I do not believe he would legislate it. That to me is the difference b/t liberals and conservatives. We ALL should be helping the poor, but I should do it out of my choice to be obedient to GOD, not made to do it by the state. That takes away my freedom and my dignity that comes from GOD.

  • I am an strong conservative, and a very strong evangelical. Young democrats who are trying to follow Christ are being told by young Christians that they cannot be a democrat and be a follower of Christ. You have to be a republican. Being how young he is, I’m guessing he has seen that same thing with the youth he is around and is sick of it like I am. Jesus is not republican or democrat. Both democrats and republicans can be followers of Christ. That’s the point he is trying to make. Note, he didn’t say Jesus us a democrat. He was just putting to bed this awful talking point that is out there.

Also, this guy is right on. So many people and go to Chruch, get involved, and feel good about doing good things, but they end up missing the point. Good deeds should only come out of the overflow of love we have from our relationship with Christ. Good deeds without Christ are pointless and this is the Religion he is talking about. Knowing about God, but not knowing God. Knowing how to do good things, but doing them on your own and not allowing God to do them through His spirit in you.

  • The question was not whether it’s a sin or not, that’s not the debate.

  • I am a very stRong conservative Christian, bible believing. we do know homosexuality is a sin, but to claim we cannot be a homosexual and a Christian is crazy! I think we can all agree that owning and partaking in sex trafficking today is a sin righ? Then couldn’t we conclude that participating in the african slave trade was also a sin? Yes. But wait a second, some great theologian, and devout christians of the 18th and 19th century were slave owners. Does this mean they were not Christias? No! It means that there culture had blinded them, but despite that blindness God moved and stirred their hearts, and called these people to know Him and to follow Him. The same is true with homosexuals. Some will be convicted of it and some will not. Either way God loves them and passionately seeks them, right where they are. I am sure when i get to heaven there are gong to be sins that god is going to reveal in my life that i just was never convicted of even though scripture was clear about it.
