  This “article” strikes me as typical left-wing liberal looniness dreamed up from “something I saw, heard, or read about and did some research on it.“ The ”research“ amounted to such ”extensive“ studies” as pictures, data, and statistics found on the internet, and perhaps a few phone calls to “verify” their conclusions.

  Or, like “WHERE IS JG” said, the authors have upside-down mortgages on properties in these areas and are trying to duupe potential buyers into being as short-sighted as they themselves were, hoping they’ll buy them out.

  Either way, I’d never dream of looking for a home (or other investment property), much less employment, in any of these cities… and I’ve spent time in several of them in the last 4 years.

  Next thing will be a “Graduated energy rate” following peak usage levels and time of day… you watch!
  Just like cell phone service: Peak/offpeak/weekend.

  The only “Savings” is the labor and related cost savings by the Utility companies when they no longer use “Meter Readers”. Thousands of jobs lost Nationwide.
  I don’t doubt that the electronic usage records gathered in “Smart Meter” networks will be used for other purposes, including product marketing demographics.

  I’m with you all the way here. The damage done is forever lingering- it didn’t go away with the last elections. It needs to be dismantled, and that takes a lot of guts and hard work.
  Boehner & Co. may have turned the other cheek, or just forgot, but I (we) have not forgotten the havoc wreacked under her swift and ruthless leadership.
  I’m waiting for the new Congress to go after their tasks with equal vengeance- slashing, gutting, straightening out, and cleaning up with the fury the likes of which we have never seen.
  Then, Nancy would melt like the wicked witch, along with many of her old cronies.

  Forgive and forget -hell! Maybe I could do it if the oppression they left implements didn’t linger…
  Boehner and Co. have memory loss, but I can’t see how, after 4 years of steadily being beat-down, and the long-term linger of their work.

  The loudmouth liberal brats are, unfortunately, the standout image that tarnishes all that is good about Americans.

  Nobody remembers Hurricane Ike in 2008. It leveled Bolivar Peninsula, severely damaged West Galveston, even coming over the seawall, and horrendous, widespread damage in all of the Galveston bay area and Houston. 40% of houston homes were without electricity for a week or more, 15% for two weeks or more.

  The reason nobody remembers it is because Houstonians pulled together, demonstrating kindness and respect much like what you see in Japan now. But that was a “non-event” and didn’t get plastered all over the National MSM news like all the hoodlums and heathens in New Orleans in 2005.
