  Right, even though open source software has it’s advantages, code is WAY more secure when it’s proprietary rather than open. I can list the steps on how to attempt a SQL injection on MySQL, but no one has a clue on how to crack the latest commercial database solutions. Look, I’m not saying that open source software is evil, in fact, The Blaze is running on WordPress on an Apache server with a MySQL backend… all of those are excellent open-source products. It’s just the fringe among some developers and especially at Mozilla that absolutely HATE software that costs money. Most of these devs have a really socialistic mentality that really leaks out when I talk to them. For instance, I’ve not been able to find an open-source video editor that is even near the caliber of Adobe After Effects. That’s because you get what you pay for. If all devs choose to develop software for nothing, the world will be left with some pretty cruddy software.

  If the coders would spare the time to put mysql_real_escape_string() around their parameters… a lot of this mess could have been eliminated. :/

  I had a friend who claimed that he could retrieve a profile’s private pictures. The next day, he showed me… It was astounding. One simple URL could be a huge privacy leak. That was enough to send me packing.
