  • Another question that needs to be asked is about the location of store security. Grocery stores are designed so that every aisle is visible and everything you do can be observed. In my time in retail a number of years ago, there were two or three people on security detail per shift. They have cameras and methods to prevent. When the first blow hit, one of their security people should have been on their way to the incident while the other was calling authorities and recording everything. This didn’t happen. This is why the employee stepped in. Safeway’s workplace violence and security plan and system failed because those involved with this did nothing.

  • Is Food Insurance an MLM? I know that Simple To Lose is, and is part of Medifast’s Take Shape for Life Program.

  • BEST_PATRIOT – Agreed.

STOIC_ONE – FEMA does not receive as much money as it needs. It is one of those agencies that is used as a political volleyball by politicians. If you do a simple search, you will see that FEMA funding was used by both Republicans and Democrats in the battles over establishing a budget. The agency has some severe problems, but part of that is because of how it is used by DHS and Congress.

  • B-Neil – It is human arrogance to presume that we can mitigate against all threats, whether they be man-made, geo-political, geological, or weather related events. We really don’t have as much control over many things that would predicate our need to be prepared.

  • Yeah, sure. It’s just like Glenn Beck and his minions to take credit for preparedness and food storage/food insurance promotion. Glenn Beck is not the originator of the idea, and I take umbrage with the author for postulating such. Lots of people have been doing this for years, and Glenn Beck really is behind in the movement. His list of things that we need to do to be prepared, and promoted on his show have been things I have known about for years, and I learned them from people who have known about them long before even that.

I am rolling my eyes at Glenn Beck and the author of this piece in a HUGE way.

  • @DISABLED VETERAN – The Avenues area very religiously and culturally diverse part of Salt Lake City. I used to live there. I know from experiences that this neighborhood is not one of those insular Mormon neighborhoods that you say. It’s not. There are more people who are not members of the church than there are members.

  • @DISMAYED – Also, just becuase you lived in Salt Lake City for a period of times does not an expert make. I am originally from Salt Lake City, and most of the business associates and friends who were not members of the church had gross misconceptions and misunderstandings about the church even though they have lived in the community for very long periods of time. I was presented with plenty of opportunities to clarify and correct things that people would say, propagate stereotypes. It is amazing to me the moxy that some of these people had, especially since some of the things they said were so derogatory. I don’t know how many times I was called a, “Mo” in the workplace and mocked for my beliefs. (For those that don’t know, it’s a derogatory term.) I never experienced this in other cities around the country, and found more respect for my faith from non-LDS individuals living outside of the state of Utah than inside of that state.

It is quite popular among quite a few non-LDS people to mock and make fun of LDS members in the Salt Lake Valley. In fact, some of the greatest antagonism and persecution of the LDS faith comes from this group of individuals that find sport in bigotry.

How’s that for not glossing over the facts?

  • @DISMAYED – This “splinter groups” are not part of the LDS church, nor do they claim to be. Most do not even resemble Mormonism anymore in name, in identity, and in theology. However, all versions and varieties of evangelicism and baptists are recognized to fall under one umbrella, and have conferences and organizations that set up such. They are not unified in doctrine and teachings. There is a HUGE difference.

  • Lutherans didn’t exist until around 1580.
Baptists didn’t exist until around 1609.
    Evangelicalism/Methodism didn’t exist until 1730.
Evangelicalism (in its various theological forms) in the U.S. didn’t exist until 1740.
Mormonism/LDS Church officially organized in 1836
Pentecostalism (in its various theological forms) didn’t exist until 1900.

Your argument doesn’t stand up. I see churches start-up all of the time, and claim to be one form of Christianity or another yet they do not agree on basic Christian theology. The LDS Church is organized unter one theology, one gospel, and on head – Christ. There are no splinter congregations, nor do the leaders of these local congregations make their living off of their congregations.

  • Rick Santorum Suspends Presidential Campaign

    In reply to GeorgieBaby.

@SOY – If he only did it to get Romney’s money and support from other Romney supporters, why would he be working as national co-chair of the Romney campaign and actively be campaigning for Romney? Your thought processes don’t add up. There is a good relationship and respect between Romney and Pawlenty, even though they may disagree on things. The same can be said for the relationship and respect between Romney and Ron Paul. I’m sure that if Paul needed help after his campaign, Romney would offer it. However, I don’t think Paul has an issue with his campaign coffers and is running in the black.

It is a very different story for Santorum and Gingrich who have attacked Romney not on his record, but have made very personal attacks and have made alliances with people who make personal attacks on Romney that have nothing to do with politics. They were both angry and vengeful in their campaigns because they couldn‘t garner the resources and neither have the gravitas to create an organization that could do what Romney’s campaign could do. Going forward, there are better people to make alliances with than Santorum and Gingrich.

I am very well informed, and am usually right little soybean, and see a bigger picture than you do.
