  I left law enforcement within the last year because of a career ending on the job injury… I know many of the larger departments such as Seattle are beholden to large unions, but most small departments have formed their own associations made up of their own sworn officers. The associations of smaller departments don‘t throw money behind large organizations that don’t hold their same values, so there’s really nobody to write to.

  I understand what you were getting at and can say without question that law enforcement officers aren’t taking marching orders from their union. More likely they are following orders of their police administration who is getting their orders from city officials.
