  • I would say give him some time. I cannot imagine that Glenn would not have something in the states to allow those who cannot get to Israel to help out here.

  • I posted before I read this and liked the Facebook page right after I saw the post. However, do you think it is making a difference? It seems like the majority of the general counsel has pretty much handed over the membership to the social justice mantra and although it sounds defeatist it seems like it is too late. I was OK with seeing the Obama bumper sticker on my pastor’s desk and at times the sermons focus on the individual versus collective salvation but I am always nervous as of late. I am not sure what the reaction would be if I would ask him his opinion on Israel although I can probably guess unfortunately. I also know that other members of my church would not agree and most like do not agree with these positions either. I think we stay because we have found fellowship with each other and wish to support our church’s local mission which is charity and not the social justice position but I am afraid, like with UNIONS, what the money kicked up to the national organization is used for.

  • So here is my question and the thing my family is praying about the more I look at the UMC “Faith in Action” web page and my stomach turns in knots, Is our calling to affect CHANGE within the church to restore common sense principle and expose the social justice agenda for what it is? I am sure based on what I have seen on the Facebook page for the general council that a lot of UMC members do NOT support this stance on Israel but the “leadership” does. It seems very similar to the UNION problem and the HOLLYWOOD problem. Do we just “give up” those areas of society as lost causes or try to educate and empower to effect change within the organizations? I understand that if people don’t get it by now they never will but what about the people that do get it and are just disappointed in the organizations we are members of.

  • OK, I manned up and actually read the article. The pull out quote in my opinion is in the section when they are trying to show the flaws in David Barton’s research. The quote is quite telling how progressive wish to move this country. PRIOR to stating that David is trying to spin and distort history the “professor” states: “The problem with David Barton is that there’s a lot of truth in what he says,” said Derek H. Davis, director of church-state studies at Baylor University, a Baptist institution in Waco, Tex.

THE TRUTH HAS NO AGENDA! .. that is unless you DISAGREE with the truth according to the critics.

  • Although I do support the fire department in this instance, I would hope that the policy be rewritten in a way such that if it happens again, the homeowner has the option to sign a contract to be billed for the FULL Cost of the call if they did NOT pay the $75 fee up front. That would include water, labor, taxes, pensions, the whole thing for the call. That would be the “just-in-time” option versus the $75 defray costs for planning access and service.

  • You may want to update the story though. Russ did make an appearance at the Madison rally. Rumors say he “got a call” from Harry Reid and suggested that he show up.
