  • There are many relatively conservative PCUSA congregations, whose members are active in Pro-life and conservative Christian causes; however, the General Assembly (National Convention and ruling body…kind of like our Congress) has passed numerous liberal agendas and supported causes like the one in the article. Many members of the PCUSA, like DRKMAGNETO think that because their local congregation is fine, everything must be fine, but the fact is that if you tithe, your money is going to support liberal causes, corrupting to the gospel. This is why many people leave the PCUSA and it’s shrinking. There are many congregations that would like to leave the PCUSA, but because of the way the congregation is set up, if a congregation switches to another Denomination, they will lose the building they meet in, since it’s technically owned by the PCUSA, not the local congregation. Other denominations (OPC, PCA) that have split from the PCUSA in the past, do not do this.

  • Hmm…if he does prove to ineligible, one of 3 things could happen:
    1. The courts ignore it
    2. He is removed from Office and Joe Biden takes his place
    3. His ADMINISTRATION is declared disqualified and all laws signed by him declared null and void. In this case, the most likely successor would either be John McCain & Sarah Palin or John Boehner would find himself with the responsibility to cobble together a lame duck administration while the democrats scramble to find an opponent to on of the 4 GOP candidates currently fighting for the nomination.

This would be an interesting case study!

  • I hear he was released from the hospital, but when he went to sue to city (for placing the bus stop there off which the grenade bounced), his lawyer said he didn’t have a leg to stand on!

  • It all depends on your perspective…if you’re a social justice, communist, utopian, then I think he might be too humble in the claim!
-If you put up his so called ‘accomplishments’ next to Lincoln, Roosevelt (FDR), and Johnson, in terms of either implementing progressive, utopian policies (FDR and LBJ) or trampling on the rights of the people and nations that consider themselves sovereign, as well as his own people (Lincoln), Obama is among the greatest/most infamous.

*I realize the last statement about Lincoln is controversial; don’t hijack the thread to focus on it alone. Whether you agree with Lincoln suspending habeus corpus or declaring martial law, which some say was his right, the fact is, Obama has done equally egregious things in trampling the rights of citizens; with far less excuse.

  • Communism would work great if mankind had a perfect and sinless nature. Persons who believe that man is basically good should believe in communism (or at least socialism) because if they’re consistent with their beliefs, they believe that it would be voluntary. People would always work hard.

Capitalism takes advantage of man’s sin nature and puts it to its best use. Bosses realize they get more production when they treat their workers well, workers realize they get treated (and paid) better when they work harder. As long as one is willing to work hard and use their earnings wisely (in a TRULY capitalist society), they will not only survive, but generally prosper.

Socialism is a GREAT thing! AS LONG AS IT IS DONE VOLUNTARILY W/OUT THE GOV’T ENFORCING THE “GIVING”. Anything other than that is grand larceny.

  • I really hope, that as they were laughing and cursing that they were dialing 911. How unfortunate.

  • I’m tempted to do the same thing to that painting! Ugh!

  • Exactly.

  • I understood fully that it was against the rules to speak politics. I did it with caution. While I think Paul and the Corporal should have exercised more caution in this instance and should have been more careful to comply with the rules, I do not think it is just policy to forbid Active Duty Military to speak out on political issues. If they are trying to act like they represent official military policy, then yes, that should not be allowed, however, if one makes it clear that his opinions are his own, then that should not matter. That said, superior officers should exercise an abundance of caution when expressing their political views to avoid unethical situations. The military personnel sadly give up many rights when they sign their contract and raise their right hand.

  • @SONOFTHUNDER

Well, I contributed when I was Active Duty. I’ve met a few private Ron Paul supporters during my 5 years in. I think most people misinterpret what Mr. Paul is trying to say. He’s not in favor of isolationist policies; he‘s in favor of strengthening nat’l defense by re-assessing our priorities. That said, does he really have to power to close all our bases overseas? Many of our larger ones are there as a result of treaties. A President does not have the power to break treaties. He may succeed partially on that note, but not completely…same reason Obama didn’t close Gitmo.

That said, when I 1st heard about him, I liked him on pretty much everything but his foreign policy and drug legalization policy. Each, imo, needs to be considered with an abundance of caution, and if someone actually WANTS us in their country, they should pay us to be there and protect them…not the other way around.
