  • What in the heck is this doing in this thread?

  • Radio Carbon Dating is not used to test rocks. Unless you are talking about silt and peat deposits of the last few tens of thousands of years.

  • “Just more proof that atheists spew bigotry, hate and they are destructive to society.”
Hate & bigotry are not peculiar to atheists, as a perusal of many of the implied Christian posts on this thread indicate. Is the implication here that if Christians exhibit hate and bigotry, that is not destructive to society?

  • Just an addendum, I had forgotten what the topic of this thread was.
The label we put on a person i.e. Christian, Tea Party supporter, Atheist, Democrat, Republican tells us little about them. If each person is viewed as a tree, judge the tree by its fruit. S.E. Cupp is an atheist, but she is certainly a very moral person. Glen is a Christian and is also a very moral person. O’bama is a Christian, need I say more.

  • Welcome to the Facist American Nation not communist.
Many sources fail in their definitions of national government so I will give you my take.
Communism: The state owns and controls all.
Socialism: The state owns and controls major social conglomerates (business, military & political)
Facism: The state owns & controls military and political entities. It also controls all businesses it deems esential to its purposes but leave the nominal ownership in private hands.
Anarchy: No government whatsoever, mob rule.
Facism seems to best describe the purpose of the above executive order.

Now the national defense is a Constitutionaly mandated function of our Government. This does not give the government an open door to trample on other rights listed in the constitution. Although the last has happened before in our history i.e. the draft. The Interstate Highway system was justified for military purposes, but has long ago exceeded that mandate.

This is an election issue, but only regarding O‘bama’s continuing collectivist agenda. Most of the electorate will be concerned with jobs, gas prices and such, much as they were in Hitlers rise to power. Philosophical issues, unfortunately, don’t concern most voters.

  • This issue of a “right to privacy” is interesting. If you carry on a conversation in a public place do you expect your neighbors to not listen. This is the reason even in our founders days they used “coded messages” or sent correspondence with trusted messengers. When you send an e-mail over the internet without coding it is like shouting your information down a public street. I am sure with appropriate coding skills even NSA would have difficulty uncovering your information. First one would use a turnkey code based on truly random events (electrical white noise) Then embed it in the noise of a natural picture. The starting pixel location known only to you and the recipient. Other techniques are possible.

  • Unix: I’d rather be dead than red.

Much better to see the Reds dead! A phlosopher said this.
Of course you can always turn the other cheek.

  • Many converts? Just another example of the spread of irrationality in the world.

  • A “Mexican” is afforded that title mainly due to an accident of birth. It tells us nothing much else. He may be a Christian, (Catholic, Mormon or Protestant). In the popular venacular he might be a US citizen or somone from Mexico (legal or illegal). His moral and cultural standards may be better or worse than your own. Let us keep the focus on “illegal aliens.” Of Mexican, European or other origin.

  • The climate is changing as it has done since “climate” began. Some scientists and a lot of politicians claim it is due to human carbon dioxide contribution to the air. Other scientists disagree. Science results when measurements confirm or deny the theories. When scientists find new life forms or new variaties of known forms they are making “measurements.” These become the basis for challenging or confirming old science or providing the groundwork for new theories. Something we refer to as God may have had a hand in it, but the burden of proving that rests with the person making that assertion and has to be confirmed by measurements.
