  • Dan, If the Dems want Romney so bad then why are they only attacking Romney in ads and through their surrogates? They have done nothing against Newt.

  • Faith1029, you need to find better sources. Ed Decker was renounced by even his fellow anti-mormon authors as distorting issues and misrepresenting their beliefs. How bad do you have to be to cause that? He was also an adulterer and abuser of his first wife which is the true reason he left the LDS church. Nice try though.

This idea that the establishment is picking the candidate is garbage. The establishment doesn’t vote in the caucuses and primaries, people do. If a candidate gets more VOTES than the other candidates then they were elected by the VOICE of the people. Raising this canard that someone will win without the support of the people is so stupid the very statement flies in the face of reality. Instead of this tired line perhaps you should just say what you mean; I‘m pissed that more people don’t like my candidate.

Almost as tired as this lunacy is the RINO tag that gets thrown around. RINO initially meant a Republican like Arlen Specter. Now it is thrown around as the label of choice here. I have heard every candidate in the race called a RINO right here. The phrase has lost its value. There hasn’t been a candidate since Goldwater that could not rightly be called a RINO including Reagan. Reagan signed a very liberal divorce law, abortion access laws, raised taxes as CA governor and worked across the aisle with Tip Oneill on numerous occasions. Everyone is a RINO here except your candidate I guess. Well my candidate worked in business as a huge success for 25 years, saved the Olympics by cutting staff and expenses and then cut a 3 billion dollar budget shortfall in a state without raising taxes. He fought against gay marriage in his state, he wouldn’t sign cap and trade legislation, he has been married to the same woman for 25 years. That is a conservative to

  • I love the laughable comments here. If Romney is their candidate of choice then why have they attacked him more than any other by far? Wouldn’t it be smart to let him sail through the primary so you get to face him?

Why would Romney be the candidate of choice anyway? The only guy who consistently beats Obama nationally and in the swing states? Romney is the only one who brings NH, MI and PA in to play as well as giving a better shot in virtually every swing state there is. Why would Obama prefer that? Because he wants to lose? That at least could be believed. That’s okay though Blazers. just keep beating the drum and let the adults in the party pick a candidate who can win which is the lost important thing right now.

  • @1389AD

reject AND lose everything. You really think Newt will get the women’s vote after cheating on his wife twice? Hoe about his 300k ethics violation? Herman Cain isn’t ready. Nice guy but he would get eaten alive by the liberal press and wouldn’t know how to handle it. Just look at him now. Who else is there? Obama? This country can’t survive another four years of Obama, it will be too late. Vote Romney or vote for the end of our republic as we know it.

  • LOL @Bradley’s comments. Romney is the post progressive Republican ever? The guy who significantly cut the size of his state government. Downsized the the number of workers in the Olympics and turned deficits into surpluses. The guy who believes in smaller government, state’s rights and was always pro-life personally but the libertarian side of him felt the government shouldn’t be involved in those decisions. When he saw the effect the government had on the cheapening of human life he decided to change. So what? I want a President who will change strategy if things don’t work. If Bush hadn’t “flip-flopped” in Iraq there never would have been a surge and we would have lost that war. The cries in MA were that Mitt was far more conservative than the people thought he was. His health care law was a conservative idea for years. His legislature were working on government run. universal health care and could override his veto to get it. Mitt instead got them to agree to a market based, private insurance plan that forced those who could pay to do so or pay their own bills. Does that sound liberal? Progressive? For those who take the Foxnews,/Rush Limbaugh blinders off and look at his record there no doubt he is a conservative. Wake up folks. When you can‘t attack a man’s character and have to make up garbage like he is “plastic” “slick” to assail a candidate, you know he is a good one.

Mitt is not a liberal, Mitt is not a Rino, Mitt is not even a moderate. In the last race he was the conservative. Now just 4 years later and with the same positions he is somehow the liberal Rino. alk about flip flopping. If you bothered to do your own research you would see Romney came down on the conservative side pretty much every time in MA. Anyone who interacts with him and especially those who work with him say he is a warm gentle man of integrity. There are no scandals in his closet. No matter how many Blazers beat the drum, it still doesn’t make Romney a Rino. Do your own research. Look at why he enacted Masscare. Here’s a hint, (his legislature, who were 85% democrats were preparing to enact Universal, state run health care so he instead got them to agree to a market based plan with mandates which were a Republican/conservative idea then. After the bill was enacted and he was out of office the Democrats put a bunch of add-ons into the bill which caused its numbers to inflate.) This is just one story in a long list that shows he did the right thing, as the conservative that he is. I know he isn’t good at feeling your pain, but do we really want to go back to that?

  • I believe someone referenced the dire warning in the Book of Revelation of what would happen to anyone who added to that Revelation. The same is also said in other books of the Bible including Deuteronomy. In addition the Bible was put together as a book for the first time in the 4th century. The author of Revelations was speaking of that book not a Bible that wouldn’t even exist for another 300+ years.

  • Crazy, as to your last post I agree with you that having your beliefs challenged is a good thing. I served a mission and it was the best thing I could have done. I found my beliefs challenged everyday and because of that my testimony flourished.

There is a difference though when discussion of differences leaves the arena of good faith and enters the realm of bigotry. I believe Pastor Jeffres crossed that line and I also believe he did so either in full confidence of or at least expectation of the Perry campaign. They are sinking in the polls, they know they can’t defeat Romney in debate. They know they can’t overtly criticize his faith so they bring out their surrogate Pastor who will do it for them. If it doesn’t go over well then they can distance themselves from his remarks and still have it out there. The problem is this isn’t 1952, the electorate is more informed and not reliant on a few media outlets to tell them what to think. The American people look at this garbage and see it for what it is, pure, unadulterated bigotry. Mormon bigotry is one of the few types that is still okay in our society. Considering it is a growing faith that is already the 4th largest in the country, I would think the Republican party would want to welcome them with open arms.
