    VERY SAD. RIP, Andrew

  • @ encinom:
Traitors? Would you be referring to Secession? Perhaps you should google “Hartford Convention” my friend. Or, maybe you should look up the fact that NYC mayor actually wanted to secede in support of SC when THEY seceded. You assume that Secession was illegal. If you check, I think you will find that ALL discussion prior to 1860 FOR secession came form the NORTH.

Also, you may also find that VA voted 5+ times AGAINST secession. It wasn’t until Lincoln called for volunteers to invade SC that VA said “secede”.

  • Sarcasm, Blackbeard: sarcasm…..and by the way, First Thxgiving at Berkeley

  • Dont forget about the “Red” Bollings. They are descended from Pocahontas as well

  • WAIT! Didn’t Glenn say that America started in 1620 at Plymouth??? Why are we digging in Virginny, anyhoo?

Hey! That thang got a HEMI!?

  • Correct: I misspoke. Randolph was his brother. But I also see references to an Uncle Randolph, but am unable to find a “Randolph” in Peter’s family genealogies. Forgive me. There were other bros for Prez Tom, but they died young

  • Remember: Judah Benjamin, Confederate Secty of War, was Jewish. Richmond has a cemetery square IN HONOR OF Jewish confederate soldiers.

  • Remember: the flag Mr. Edgerton carries was the BATTLE flag, carried by soldiers in the field, many (I dare say MOST) of whom did not own slaves. The Klan has bastardized that flag and transformed it into a symbol of racism for some. Those boys and men that carried it were fighting in defense of their homes, families and country. Yes, Country. Secession was valid. Remember “The Hartford Convention”; NY mayor’s consideration of Secession in support of South Carolina, etc etc There are ample PRE-War examples of secession They seceded and became a country, a separate nation. Virginia, for example, voted 5+ times AGAINST seceding. It wasn’t until Lincoln called for Virginia troops to quell the “rebellion” in South Carolina that VA seceded. It pains me to see comparisons b/w Nazis and my grandfathers. My grandfathers did NOT attempt to exterminate a race, and it’s shameful to the Jews who suffered under the hands of the Nazis. Slavery was horrible, and I am glad it ended, but to place ALL of the blame on the South and that flag is ignorant and short-sighted.
But back to the point: Mr. Edgerton is RIGHT!

  • The used Male DNA (Y-chromosome) to prove that male descendants of one of the slaves had the same Y-DNA as Thomas Jefferson, and his uncle, and ALL male Jeffersons who descended from a male common to Thomas. the DNA testing also proved that the Woodson claimants were NOT descended from Thomas.
