  • Palin: I Didn’t Mess Up Paul Revere History

    June 6, 2011 at 12:13am

    In reply to Robert-CA.

A quick analysis of the demographic spectrum that includes, age, education level, party affiliation, income, race, religious affiliation, etc. that most fervently supports Mrs Palin; helps put her defenders ability to see this woman for what she is in a much clearer perspective. A more cynical way to look at it might be the short bus passengers on a bridge to nowhere…but then I’m not cynical.

My pity for the Palin family extends only to Piper, the use of this innocent child as media tool is not just suspect parenting, it calls into question her mother’s judgement in the most profound ways…simply disgusting.

  • Heck I‘m impressed he’s not forced to travel by crane at this point….oh I’m just kidding, an ambulance would probably be the safest; especially when you can’t make it 100 yards on foot.

  • You’re missing the point, if Obama is really supporting some of the worst policies in the history of the country, and logic made it very easy to draw a bright line between U.S. failure and Obama, than a GOP landslide should be a snap right?

The fact is, positions GOP primary voters care about are not shared by the majority of Americans. Moreover, the demonizing of Obama may go down like a cool drink to many of you, but most of the country is rather fond of the man, particularly when contrasted to Bush and the GOP. Of course, try to convince people of your wisdom, and win or lose the next election in a battle of ideas. But again, when the ideas you espouse are dismissed as “bad” so easily…and by so many, then the GOP is going to face a tough go of it. And hey, I’ll even grant you that plenty of the GOP candidates seem capable, but if the majority of voters are put off by their ideas- I‘m afraid you’re going to need to find a magician. I wonder if the Amazing Kreskin is a Republican? Heck, it wouldn’t hurt to give him a call at this point.

  • Don’t mistake difficult to defend positions for difficult to find candidates.

Charisma won’t get Medicare replacement coupons past seniors, nor will “guts” be confused for wisdom when it comes to extending tax cuts for billionaires at the expense of the deficit. Unless the GOP nominates a hypnotist these positions are going to be nearly impossible to justify to the majority. Not to mention healthcare repeal, outlawing abortions, elimination of social safety nets, de-funding the EPA, accusing the president of being an un-American terrorist appeaser, demolishing unions, curtailing unemployment benefits, reducing higher education assistance, etc.

The chef isn’t the problem, its the crap-sandwiches the GOP primary voters are forcing the chefs to prepare for people that don’t like the flavor of crapola. It matters not that they’re easier to keep down while guzzling tea. The majority of Americans don’t drink tea either.

  • I’m going to try and help you understand this…please pay attention.

If she didn’t spend her SarahPAC money on luxury travel, tours, self promotion etc., how could she justify continued solicitation of funds? This is an economic and career issue *for herself* first and foremost. It helps her brand, her earning power, her influence, her self esteem, her legacy. All things that are useful and highly desirable for Sarah to have. Unless she can’t read….and its common knowledge that she’s obsessed with her own press clippings so clearly she can; Sarah’s disapproval ratings are stratospheric. And, sorry folks, but mathematically insurmountable! She knows this, so why in the world would she spend two seconds running for president? The short answer is SHE’S NOT!

    Hope this helps….

Have you noticed how much less specific the criticism of Obama is here recently? Sure there are the same people that post here non-stop that use these friendly confines as a comforting echo chamber. But lets face it, there are probably fewer than five conservatives on this board whose comments are EVER worth reading in their entirety…and please don’t challenge me to name them, I couldn’t. Just think, this group makes up the base of the GOP, these are the de-facto kingmakers of the GOP primary field! I think your critique illuminated this vacuum of critical thought quite well….and demonstrates a deeper problem for the GOP….and specifically the problem for the “dead-enders” that post here morning, noon and night. Their message (or lack thereof), is appreciated essentially by those in their own group…while the remaining *majority* of the country merely roll their eyes as I‘m sure you and I would both agree we do daily while sifting through this blazin’ trash. It would certainly be funnier if it weren’t so sad….but hey, its good to keep your finger on the pulse of these types, tedious as it is.

  • You’re right Suzanne, conservatives absorb “a newslike product” from one channel, and one channel only. The conservative taste in information these days comes straight out of the Country Bunker mentality in the Blues Brothers movie: “We like all kinds of music…country and western!!!” As long as you’ve convinced yourself its the best music in the world…well… I guess that’s bliss as part of a saying goes.

  • This is a wedge issue that will increasingly drive a wedge between right wing candidates- and political victories….granted it may be a slow train wreck but a train wreck nonetheless.

  • Perfect timing, I was going to have to put gas in my car on Sunday

  • ….Now for the real debate, a pie eating contest Rush vs. Newt……hmm-errrr-uhhh-huckk…..Glenn- quick hand me the bucket!!!
