  • So yes, digital has finally returned film photography to the relm of “elite” fine-art, which critics of the Brownie had bemoaned.

But what it has created is an entire generation that will not have those shoe boxes and photo albums full of family photos. The snap-shooter rarely makes prints anymore, and few people know how to, or care to, archive their computer-stored images properly. So those baby pictures we all dreaded our mothers dragging out at inappropriate times are simply gone. Lost on a dead hard drive somewhere. That blurry shot of Great-Aunt Pauline on her 90th birthday never even made it to the computer hard drive in the first place. It was deleted in-camera. It would have been the last picture of her the family would have had.

  • Okay, so while driving through Crazy Town (which seems more and more to be where BO and his minions live) I can’t help but wonder if there is any connection to this and a story that broke recently here in New Mexico. The Mayor, Chief of Police, and several other town officials of Columbus, NM, were busted for . . . gun smuggling to the Mexican cartels! Now here‘s what’s kinda funky about all of this. This particular Mayor, Eddie Espanoza, was a staunch, STAUNCH border protection guy. Columbus is one of those border towns right on the front lines. A year or so ago, Columbus made minor headline (I say “minor” because frankly, NM is basically forgotten as even being a state–including Glenn, when he failed to mention there was a state between TX and AZ, the other day), when the entire police force of Puerto Palomas, Mexico, showed up en mass across the border in Columbus, NM, begging for amnesty and protection. The Palomas police chief followed within days with the same desperate request. Ao Mayor Espanoza was one of those most vocal about seriously beefing up security on the border, going against the Governor so totally against it (Bill Richardson–BO’s original choice for Commerce Secretary). So right about the time CBS starts reporting on this Fed operation, the Columbus Mayor et al winds up caught in a raid by federal agents, arrested and charged with gun smuggling. Okay, corrupt politicians ain‘t nuthin’ new, certainly. But the timing’s just hinky, and I can‘t help but wonder if Espanoza hasn’t been set up. See the DOJ can just say “None of this was a Fed job. It was all this NM mayor and his police chief!”.

  • After seeing a local news report last night about protesters marching on the Round House (capitol in NM) in Santa Fe to protest . . . something the guy interviewed even said hadn’t even happened yet, but he was sure Gov Martinez would go the union-busting route NEXT year, I said to my husband, “How much you wanna bet those protesters got outside orders to go march?” I mean, they were protesting the POTENTIAL actions of a governor NEXT YEAR!

  • It is not at all uncommon with members of the tribes here in the Southwest to have Spanish last names (case in point, you’re more likely to find a Spanish-named member of say, the Pojoaque Pueblo than a traditional Tewa name.). After all, the Conquistodors did intermingle. But with that said, I don’t believe he was chosen because of the name. He was also from academia, instead of a tribal elder/spiritual leader. So his emphasis on his Mexican heritage was intentional to make a political point.

  • GOP Rep. Will Introduce New Strict Gun Law

    January 11, 2011 at 6:54pm

And so goes the first “Republican” to throw out his shoulder “reaching across the aisle” for “bipartisan” legislation. Okay, so who’s up next for the GOP to propose speech restrictions? Hey! They won their elections! Now “We the People” need to go back and sit down, shut up, put up, and write the checks.

  • Rep Giffords is showing miraculous survival from such devastating injury is because unlike her attacker, she and all of us praying for her trusts in G^d.

  • “On Sunday, Brady told CNN that he plans to introduce a bill that would make it a crime for anyone to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening or violent against a federal official. ”

    So, those symbols would be:
    The Gadsden Flag
    The Christian cross
    The U.S. Constitution
    The Declaration of Independence
    Old Glory

NOW we will see if the “Republicans” have changed any in the last 4 years, or if they’ll throw out their shoulders reaching “across the aisle” for “bipartisanship” to enact these bills so fast it’ll make your head spin.

Obamacare and the debt ceiling can wait a bit. Boehner et al need to stand up, and stand up NOW, and say “ENOUGH!!”

  • In reading further comments on other news sites, I can’t help but pull a page from history . . .

The assassination of German diplomat Ernst vom Rath by Herschel Grynszpan, a Polish Jew, used by the Nazis as an excuse to enact Krystallnacht.

I’m sorry, but the Left has just been waiting for something like this. “Never let a crisis go to waste”, as they love to say. Keep your ears open and your eyes peeled.

  • This is just horrible, and my thoughts and prayers are with the Giffords family.

While all the comments on NPR’s site are screaming about blood-thirsty tea-baggers, I think it should be noted, that while Giffords was a democrat, she was one of the most vocal about securing our borders, a strong supporter of the Arizona 1070 Bill, and was hounding the Obama administration over their failure to do anything about it. Oh, yeah, that would DEFINITELY make her a target of the Right, ’cause we don‘t need no stinkin’ secure border . . .. ::rolling eyes::

  • Okay, so the story seems like fluff. But unlike many of the “filler” stories this site seems to do, this does have a relevant historical note.

“There’s no evidence that Adolf Hitler was ever told of the case, even if the case made it all the way to his chancellory, Hillenbrand said.” Hmmm . . . sound like Joe the Plumber? His curb-side meeting with candidate Obama put the messiah in a bad light. So before The One even took office, his minions went to work to utterly destroy the man responsible for asking really inconvenient questions.
