  • I had the same reaction JP, It’s sad when a supposed conservative stoops to to class envy to win votes. There are some who will be moved by such pandering though. Huckabee has a measure of success with the same tactic. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Santorum use it again. A big part of his appeal is as a champion of blue collar Republicans. I like having a Republican appealing to blue collar conservatives, but I dislike that it’s couched in class resentment.
Obama will use this same tactic against Romney.

  • Exactly!

  • Good riddance. Just stop pretending to be an American conservative.

  • Rush Slams Romney: He ‘Is Not a Conservative’

L-Man “Romney Rino believs in MAN MADE GLOBAL WARMING !
    ENOUGH SAID!
    CAIN/NEWT 2012 CAIN / NEWT 2012″

Romney never made a TV add with Pelosi urging voters to put pressure on congress to take measures to end “climate change”. Yet your promoting Newt as VP! That’s rich.

So you disagree with Rush’s 2008 statement. Was Rush being a sell out, or a squish in supporting Romney in 2008? Did you agree with Rush in 2008 that Romney was a true conservative that stood up for all three legs of the conservative agenda? What conservative position has Romney shrunk from sense Rush backed him in 2008?

Last election cycle Rush said Romney was the candidate that stood for all three legs of the conservative movement. This time Rush say Romney is no conservative. That’s a classic flip-flop if ever there was one.

  • So true, but it would be more lame without George Will. I don’t think he was slamming the south, or southerners. He sees a need to expand the areas the GOP can be competitive. That’s all.

Of course the Dems will play the race card. Only liberal backs receive protection. Cain’s a great guy, but his 9+9+9 would cripple him in the general. If you must, vote for him in the primary, but you’ll be voting for someone else in the general, if you vote Republican.

Perry’s not conservative, That’s just plain goofy thinking on your part. Is Perry in the mainstream of conservative thought on immigration? Nope, but that doesn’t disqualify him as a conservative. Is he a moderate? Hardly. Is he a liberal? Only to the insane. Is he an opportunist? It’s very hard, if not impossible for any politician not to indulge in opportunism to some degree.

LILLYMCKIM and VENNOY You are both right. Who ever gains enough support to win the nomination deserves our support. No two minds and no two persons passions match perfectly, we always need to compromise to get along.
After we win back the White house, (God willing) I’d like a candidate that can gain support of Democrats for policies that will shrink government. This was one of the things about Mitch Daniels I admired. He respects people even if they disagree with him. This alarms some, but in the long run we need to develop a general consensus that smaller government, and less dependence on government makes for stronger families, and stronger, happier Americans.
