  • I’m pretty much fine with not paying attention to these folks except one thing. When businesses are closing because they’re not making enough money, but the boss‘s paycheck keeps doubling and tripeling something isn’t working the way it’s supposed to. Not that I expect folks to go broke keeping a dying company open until the last breath, but I do expect that working folks should recieve a part of the benefit of the company. The value of the work that the CEO does has not increased over 300% while the value of what everyone else does remains unchanged. What we need is another major employer, like Henry Ford, to step out from the crowd and create a payscale related to the value of the company and the value of the work accomplished. Not one based on all their friends on the board willing to vote each other fantastic amounts until the company folds under the weight.

  • Tuesday is Green Day!!

  • It does seem that unfortunate as it is, both the contenent of Africa and much of the Middle East had thriving cities while those of us in more northern climes were still hunter/gatherers. Then? Nothing… Their 3,000 year old civilizations are still there or fallen behind.

  • Have to go with the scarecrow on this one. I don‘t care if he’s the best administrator ever. There was nothing threatening about her tweet, and thus falls under free (unregulated) speech. Your opinion has nothing to do with her right to say whatever pops into her head and out her mouth or in this case out her fingers. Matter of fact, you’re supposed to be fighting for her right to say things that may upset you. What are you? Some kind of Democrat?

  • The article is correct. Being a member of the FAMU field marching band must be very difficult to acheive, much desired, and an honor to hold. As such, those of you that find “putting up” with hazing, I can only imagine you’ve never been a member of anything elite. Is it silly? Most certainly. Stupid? Quite often. A Drum Major at FAMU was probably working on at least a Master’s Degree, perhaps a Doctorate in Music. At 26 it’s not so unusual. Who cares how old the man was anyway? Hazing is a way that humans act whenever someone from the outside tries to join our little group. I don‘t care if you’re talking about 7th graders getting into a fistfight before becoming best friends or talking garbage to the new poker player at the table. It is part of the test. Is the new person worthy to be in this company? There must be checks in place always to keep it from getting out of hand. If the school had been asked by the band director for help and didn’t get it, and that directory told the family it was his cause of death, suing is probably the smart thing to keep it from happening again. If it were my child, my filing a law suit would be the least of their worries.

  • Hmmm.. Must not have heard of General Order #1. Been in place out here for years and prohibits sexual contact even between married people stationed together. She probably never heard of it. No body told her.

  • Great line. Unfortuantely, one often leads to the other.

  • Sometimes you should know what you’re commenting on before you hit send. Abraham was asked to scarifice his son, by God, to God. Abraham’s first-born was a bastard child named Ishmael which the muzzelmen claim as father of their nation (Arabs) and as the one to be sacrificed. Abraham’s second son, the only one born to his wife, was Isaac, and the Jewish claim as the father of their race. Whichever was called, that child was replaced by a ram, sent by God (perhaps accompanied by an Angle) to fulfill the sacrificial requirement. Sacrifices to God should be incrementally better, thus when Jesus the Christ was sacrificed, that represented the final life sacrifice to God as practiced by Christians. The sacrifice was of a perfect being and cannnot be bettered. The bargain was a sacrifice to God for the salvation, through grace, of all of mankind. Life sacrifice has been practiced for thousands of years by hundreds of religions world-wide. Christians stopped doing that about 2011 years ago, give or take. Now most of us think meat comes from the grocery store, all wrapped in plastic.

  • Kind of funny really. Islam is a redux of the followers of Baal. A moon god a couple thousand years ago in the Middle East. Christianity is a redux of the followers of Mithras, the son of the Sun god, 3 thousand years ago in the same area. Shadowgods, both of them. Perhaps we’ll learn in a thousad thousand years, but I’m not confident.

  • For those of you not from the south (some parts of Florida are still the South) people from around here hug. Nothing sexual about it, we just hug. It’s a greeting. Get over it. If you move south from a place that doesn’t hug, “Welcome to the South! Get a hug and grab a glass or Sweet Tea. Make yourself at home.” Our home. If you don’t want to hug or see other do so, go back where you came from.
